Recent Man City v Arsenal raised questions about the use of dark arts now employed by Arsenal in their attempt to win the league.
1. Rodri was targeted for roughing up straight from the kickoff and was forced to leave the game early after An Arsenal player charged into him as a corner was being taken.
2. Not allowing City players to break out after winning back the ball.
3. At Arsenal free kick/corners two players would move onto the City goalkeeper blocking him from moving to the ball, one of these resulting in a goal.
4. Time wasting and feigning injury to waste time and break up attacking momentum.
All the managers will now, if not before be, aware of this blocking tactic and will try to counter or use themselves, no doubt resulting in much pushing and shoving in the goalmouth.
It is saddening that pundits and sportswriters are all licking their lips instead of condemning these tactics.
Football, even at this level should be played with a certain amount of respect and sportsmanship.
