Quite a favourable month coming up for us after a very tricky November.

Ipswich (H) - level on points with them now but should be beating them at home. 1-0 WIN.

Huddersfield (A) - two sides falling away after superb starts, right time to be playing them, but they'll be saying it's the right time to be playing us. 1-1 DRAW.

Brentford (H) - another side that started well but have fallen away lately, abysmal away record so should be beating these at the Gate. 2-0 WIN.

PNE (H) - these lot have picked up as of late and Grayson always seems to get one over us. Cautiously optimistic here, 1-1 DRAW.

Wolves (A) - complete write-off, we never get anything at Molineux and they'll have sorted themselves out by then. 3-0 LOSS.

Ipswich (A) - another ground we don't seem to ever really do well at, would be satisfied with a point but wouldn't be surprised if they beat us. 2-2 DRAW.

9 points from six games, would be a half decent month.

An opportunity for us to push on and cement a play-off place this month

(H) Preston North End - WIN
(A) Reading - Not been a happy hunting ground for us over the year and they're going well this year, that said our away form has been good. DRAW
(H) Barnsley - we always beat Barnsley WIN
(H) Rotherham - They have a hoodoo over us at Hillsborough, surely this year is the year to break that WIN
(A) Newcastle - great boxing day fixture, can't see us getting anything though LOSE
(A) Preston North End - DRAW

Wigan (A) - Not going to be easy as Monday will have given them a confidence boost, but we should be winning this. However y'know Championship. WIN
Forest (H) - Please. PLEASE. WIN
QPR (A) - This would make it seven wins in a row which isn't going to happen, but... WIN
Fulham (A) - No Chris Martin, but a win for them all the same. LOSE
Birmingham (H) - They're rubbish. WIN
Wigan (H) - Another win? Why not? WIN

Strange how confident you get when Maclaren is in charge!

To be fair I had no idea you guys had won 100% of your games last month, fair play.

Leeds (a) - Tough game. We haven't looked like losing under Bruce though and I fancy that to continue here. 1-1 DRAW

Wigan (h) - Usually beat these with the exception of their relegation season from the Premier League, but then we weren't exactly shining at that point, considering how they've been playing and our home record is (for once) good... 2-0 WIN

Norwich (a) - They'll have sorted themselves out by then, but still fancy us to snatch something, usually have a good record against Norwich, other than last season, but even then one of our 3 games we won was Norwich... 1-1 DRAW

QPR (a) - Hate Holloway. Not that fond of QPR (dunno why, irrational hatred I guess). Other than that, they've not looked great, and hopefully the honeymoon period is fading by then. 2-1 WIN

Burton (h) - Kind of game we love to lose, and it would be fitting to do so to lose our unbeaten home record, still, think we should record a comfortable win here. 4-1 WIN

Leeds (h) - Back us to beat these at home if not away. 2-1 WIN

So we end December (hopefully) still with our unbeaten home record, and Bruce's unbeaten record intact. 14/18 would be a nice return and would hopefully see us in the top 6 come the new year.

Sorry to be pedantic but you usually beat us...at the DW. We've only ever lost once at Villa Park in our 8 Premier League visits. Having said that, I agree with your 2-0 prediction. That one will be a step too far us I think. As for us...

Derby (h) - They always beat us at home, will be very tight, one to go in the under 1.5 goal accumulators across the country. I'll say 0-0 draw.

Villa (a) - First time we're back up against Brucey since we beat him at Sunderland in 2011 ending our 8 game losing run and getting him sacked the day after. We've got a chance if we defend like we did against Huddersfield and we've not lost away for over 2 months, but as I said above they should be too strong for us. 2-0 loss.

Newcastle (h) - This could be embarrassing with Gayle up against our old slow defence. All signs point to a loss, but we have an incredible record against Newcastle at the DW and it wouldn't be the first time Rafa's failed to win on a cold Wednesday night in Wigan... nah I can't see it. 0-2 defeat.

Ipswich (h) - This is one of two games we simply have to be picking up points from. We could easily end up losing all three above, which would make this even more important. They are nothing special, get at them, score first and we should scrape it. 2-1 win.

Rotherham (a) - The second must pick up points game of the month. So far our away tactics under Joyce have been built from a solid defence and counter attack and it's worked. But against these the onus will be on us to go and win. I've got a bad feeling about this one but I don't have the heart to predict a loss so I'll say an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Derby (a) - While they usually beat us at the DW we usually win at Pride Park. Again we'll build from back and if we score first we can sneak three points. But I think Derby will be gunning for the top spots by then and edge past us. A brave 1-0 loss.

5 points out of a possible 18. It's a horrible month of fixtures and realistically this is probably not enough to stop us getting cut adrift unless we get some favours from top teams playing our relegation rivals. Beating Ipswich and Rotherham has to be the main aim and anything from the other four games are bonuses. As long as we are not cut adrift at the end of this month then I think we can push on next year.

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT

I GOT OPTIMISTIC! NEVER DO THAT AS A VILLAN!

Still, 10/18 isn't bad in a tough month, won all the games we should definitely be winning, lost to jammy Norwich, Leeds deserved their win, and got a deserved draw at VP.
