I got a fine for going into a bus only scheme that they have started in Surbiton. Since August, they have racked up over millions in fines (one road) and rising. They have no put ample signage up and there have been a lot of complaints.

I paid my £65, but then appealed. I lost. Then I took it to an adjudicator but lost again (even though I gave proof of others having it waived and various figures of offences, showing that something cannot be right here). This lost as well, but I have now had a bill come through saying that as I have not paid, I now owe an extra £130!

This is my only fine, but I do not want to pay it - I had to pay the other one just before Christmas which was far from ideal! Anyone got any advice on bills, or how to wiggle your way out of it? I was going to say that I didn't get the reply from the adjudicator so I did not know the outcome, therefore I should not be paying the higher rate - but I do not want to pay anymore than I currently have as I thought it was all settled!

I proper ballsed up last year and did the same on holiday in Torquay, - came home to a muffled automated voicemail on the answerphone, barely intelligible, but did manage to pick out the words Torquay/ Bus lane etc ... ignored it, and have not yet heard anything since.

I know this is no help, but perhaps you could just do what I now do, and drive fucking properly xx

the only think you can do is ask to spread the cost over several months to make the hit slightly less

After all that, I called them and they said it was a system error so I do not owe anything. I am not sure they are right but I have their name etc so I can argue it out at a later date if need be.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
I had a sticker on my windscreen saying 'Parking Fine'.

Which was nice. Always good to get a compliment on your driving ability.

As someone who used to work for Transport for London, the best way to get out of the fine is by saying that you were travelling with a Blue Badge holder and you were concerned for their health. Then procure yourself a copy of a Blue Badge from someone you know and attach it to the appeal. That should you usually get you out of it as a first time occasion.
