Although Macclesfield reportedly began the process of paying players and staff before the EFL's deadline on Wednesday, BBC Sport understands that only three players ultimately received their wages.

What the fuck does 'began the process' of paying wages mean? Shouldn't take long in any normal place of employment. Sounds like utter bullshit.

Only paid 3 players too!

Looking bleak for Macc at the moment, assume the EFL wont go for a fine but more likely a deduction? Pointless giving fines when they can't pay!

Looking more and more like there'll be no team relegated from the football league this season.

We're paying Connor Kirbys full wages hence his availability

Happily take a deduction if it means the club continues. We have to hope that the owner is willing to actually pick up the phone and negotiate with the Sealeys who are putting in their best and final offer to him by 6pm this evening.

He surely has 2 options now - make a deal and recoup some cash for himself, or just continue to run the club into the ground and get zero. There is genuinely nothing in this for him to keep going as we are, I can't for the the life of me understand why he's just dragging this out for no personal gain.

Depends how deep the problems are and how much he wants to cling on.

Ground sell on?

Did he meet with him a couple of weeks back?

Good luck Macc fans
hope your owner sees sense unlike the dodgy bastard we are saddled with.

Listened to Sealey on Talksport this morning and it seems contact was lost as soon as the first bid was made which would worry me after what went on with my club. Hopefully you get this knob out of the club and you can avoid leaving this division.

I do hope whatever lawyers are in charge of Macc look to Southend United circa 2010 when Ron decided to not pay the entire club, from players to shop staff to board members for 8 months. Wasn't just late payment, he didn't pay them full stop until Sainsbury's stepped in and paid everyone off, including a £2.5M HMRC bill.

FA/EFL did nothing, no investigation, no questions to Ron. Even the PFA gave up towards the end with regards to helping the players.
