Our opening fixture, Wrexham away!

I'm not sure whether to regard that as good or bad. A loss to one of the favourites for promotion at their ground wouldn't be catastrophic but a win, now that would really be a statement of intent.

I would have preferred a home game for the 1st match but it is what it is.

I think it's the perfect time to play them personally. It's a good test and gets us right in the thick of things against a team that we want to be fighting with throughout the season, if we win then perfect but then it's also early days so even if we do lose, it's not the end of the world and there's still time left in the window to change things and fix things.

Stockport and MK Dons both on a Tuesday night. Fuck off.

Crawley away opening day. Meh.

Home on Boxing Day - Morecambe

Away on NYD - Crewe

Bradford at home. One of our biggest crowds to start with.
Salford away
Mk Dons home
Gillingham home
Swindon away
Stockport away.

We could lose all five of those...well all of them will be thinking they should get the points. Rock bottom after five could cause some rumblings.

For a bit of fun I went through the fixtures and guessed results and I got to the grand total of 44.

Never understand it.

Why make northern games like doncaster and tranmere tuesday nights when we’d take loads when you can sample the delights of sodding newport gillingham and sutton on a saturday for instance. (nothing against those teams just making a point)

Surely would make more sense to have the games no-one will care about on the tuesday and have the decent local games on saturday, but heyho.

Crewe away first up, home to grimsby boxing day and stockport NYD so at least got that with barrow away last.

Nothing says welcome back to League 2 more then Salford & Harrogate first two games.

Having Newport on Boxing Day again I'm happy with.

Think it's something like 900 initially going up to 1500 if you need them. Could be wrong though, that question was asked about 12 times on here last season and I never remembered the answer.

Dunno, we mess about with the away allocation so much these days. You’ll get 2,000 definitely but we’ve not given anyone any more than that for a while now.

We’d sell whatever you can give, though understand the capacity in that stand has been dropped?

Now we’ve got more fans we don’t have the whole taking more away than we get at home business, yay!

Not that i can go anyway, doh!

Yeah that stand is a bit of a mess, as you’ll know having been in it with like 4k the concourses are badly designed and downright dangerous when it’s near to capacity. No one knows what the actual capacity of it is currently.

We’re also less willing to just give teams massive away allocations these days though. I don’t know whether it’s a home advantage thing or to do with the safety of the stand but we’ve capped Grimsby, Chesterfield and Wrexham around that 1,800-2,000 mark in recent seasons when they could’ve sold more.

Tough start with 3 of first 4 away starting at Accrington. A festive trip to Spice Town before welcoming FGR on Boxing Day. Lovely jubbly.

Yeah 1,500 is about right if you need them. Only Wimbledon and Orient I think brought that many last season. Should be a few more selling out this season including Notts. Swindon is a Saturday this time so they should manage it. Gillingham Tues but they might do it given expectation this time out and with it being early doors.

Well, not about to go flogging sides about the state of their stands down the side of the pitch

Yeah the inside of it really isn’t ideal, but i suppose designed in a different time to now.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see, a lot of missed revenue though if you’re willing to miss out on say 1500 each from grimsby and mansfield - even saying the tickets go for £20 on average you’re losing out on £60,000 (before extra bills)

That's usually the case, especially for us. Maybe the problem is Mansfield being about the most central team in the division, though donny is an odd one

You gave us 2500 for the league match and I think you gave Chesterfield 3000 in 21/22. I'm gonna be livid if I miss out again like I did for the playoffs.

Don’t you just buy them online as soon as they become available through your ticketing portal?

That’s what i do, know when they go on sale and dive in.

Hmmm it was last season then we didn’t give anyone anything more. I have no idea really, I don’t think it’s us just being annoying (apart from possibly the play-off game), it’s whatever the safe capacity of that stand is at any given time/whether the extra policing costs of closing the road make it cost effective to open more.

I'm not a ST holder mate, the whole playoff allocation went before it got to 1878 members (the next level after ST holders). Think I only got one of the last ones by going through my 1878 membership when they gave us 2500 for the league match in 21/22 so I'd imagine I'll struggle again if they only give us 2000 and it's our first away match of the season.

Ah, yeah this having fans thing is getting to be an inconvenience. We ended up with 4,600 STHs last season and we’ve already passed that! it does make it a challenge to get one if you haven’t got a ticket - there’s been quite the debate about priority tickets for away games, like caps etc.

The boom in lower league crowds is great though. I don’t reckon you’d have to go that far back for a season when Notts and Stags didn’t have 5,000 season ticket holders between them let alone more than that each.

Same debates going on on The Fishy too. I get that ST holders get priority and stuff but it's not really policed well. ST holders getting away with passing them onto mates and getting more tickets than they should be allowed to (although I've benefited from this myself to be fair!) as well as whenever there are problems with the portal they shut it down and give priority to those going to the ticket office which rightly enrages exiles. It does my head in that we don't have an away points system, I've done 25+ aways in the last two seasons and don't get anything for it.

Wrexham fans already moaning about the distance to ours on Boxing Day. How very tinpot! Be even better if they’re on the open Bank and it’s pissing down.

It’s because in the Vanarama you’re supposed to get given a local game for Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. We’ve recently had our traditional local rivals Oldham Athletic and Maidenhead United.

Yeah, though it could be there’s fuck all else to do in mansfield, so may as well go the game

Yeah we really pushed on after covid and the playoff final, we were pretty shit at home last term so for them to get more is quite odd really, but that sums us up well.

You’ve always been better supported than us (as you would do coming from a city). i also admit i think a few fans have invested since forest got in the prem and the games are all over the place.

I’d imagine you’d be on good crowds this term, especially if you push on.
