Difficult to gauge these things as a fan as you normally see a player only once so difficult to judge.

5 of ours seems a little excessive although individually all have been good. Stacey started the season really strong but sort of tailed off as did our form in general. 6 goals conceded aside, surely another Coventry defender deserves to be in there? Or even an Accrington one!

A large proportion of Coventry fans don't like Lee Burge. Rather than be happy he's included, many are moaning about his inclusion.

So wait, Mohamed Eisa is nominated for the L2 player of the season award, yet doesn't make the team of the season. Go figure.

The player of the season nominees are Billy Kee, Mohamed Eisa and Adebayo Akinfenwa. Always annoys me that its goal scorers that get nominated. Totally overlooks the contributions of other players that do the dirty work and don't make the headlines.

The team of the season is hilarious though, Accrington are the best team yet have 2 players nominated, compared to Luton's 5. They have the 2nd best defence, yet have no defenders or their keeper nominated. Suppose thats the problem when you start gathering nominations 2 months before the season ends.

Interestingly, Mo Eisa has been put on the shortlist for player of the season along with Akinfenwa and Billy Kee despite the fact he's not in the team of the year - think that means we can rule him out.

Funnily enough, he's not favourite for player of the season at the club either, with Carl Winchester the clear favourite at the moment.

Surprised Neal Eardley didnt get the right back slot, been absolutely superb all season for us, not just defensively but has set up a bucket load of goals as well.
Pleased for Bossie has he's been very consistent too.

Surprised by that selection - certainly for Stacey and Berry; the former has really tailed off in the second half of the season, but had a rollicking start.

Alan Sheehan and Dan Potts fully deserved.

Pretty farcical team to be honest. 5 Luton players and only 2 Accrington players undermines any credibility for any of those in it.

Having a handful of good players is nothing if a manager can’t turn them into a good team
If we played 5 a side we’d wipe the board....

I think Berry is probably deserving, Stacey is the head scratching on given his distinctly average form for for a while. Hylton as well probably, argument to be made that he isn’t even our best striker let alone one of the leagues best. (Not one is subscribe too but still). As this Eisa chap is up for the league award he should probably be there over him.

Perhaps controversial for Luton fans but everyone has been saying how great Sheehan has been, but he still makes basic errors for a league 2 centre half, like the goal yesterday, on a fairly regular basis. Dont think he should be there either.

4th place and no one in this team. This is laughable.

The penny has finally dropped as to why this "team of the year" has got us all scratching our heads.........................it was selected by L2 managers a couple of months ago.

What do you expect when you put together the combined managerial, team selection and mutual back-scratching talents of Slade, Derry, Flitcroft, Westley, Sarll, Curle, Evans and their ilk??

There were probably occasional agents' fees circulating in brown envelopes as well.

Can't be that difficult to ask for votes in mid-April, can it? Not exactly a long process to get the votes in, count them up and stick them on a tactics page.

EDIT - Can't argue with Bostwick being in there IMO, but Eardley's unlucky to miss out although I'm saying that with the usual caveat of watching him more than others in that position, obviously.

Exactly, I thought that.

It's like deciding the sports personality of the year should he decided in September or doing playing seeding for Wimbledon in February.

Nothing against Luton but suggesting they've got 5 players to accringtons 2 given the massive difference in budget means it's barely worth even bothering with.

Without wishing to open a whole can of worms.

I think that Coleman makes a massive, massive difference for Accrington. We probably have better individuals, they are the better team (which is what counts) largely because he tips them over the edge with his nous and experience.

Its part of the reason we have fallen away of late, when we have needed a manager to make the difference, he hasnt really (and thats the can of worms opened!)

Like i said above though, 5 of ours is a little too much.

Nathan jones and steve evans looked a little bit like rivals at the beginning of the season, both big budgets both favourites to going up.

You're going up, we aren't, you're manager is still with you, evans fucked off. Any Luton fan not happy with nathan jones (I don't like him at all) needs their heads testing. He's done the required job.

No Jorge Grant is a bit of a joke considering his contribution in assists and goals

Surprised Joe Jacobson isn't included he's one of the best left backs in League 2,plus Luke O'Nien has been superb in midfield all season.

Hylton was the outstanding striker in the league until he got injured, hasn't hit full fitness or form for about 2 months now so been overtaken by others but when this vote would have been done he would have been an obvious choice.

Not sure about Stacey or Potts though personally. Stacey has been fairly poor since about November. Potts scores goals from set pieces and is a good enough defender but I still think a lot of our attacks break down when they get to him as he hasn't got the pace or attacking instincts to run down the line, 9 times out of 10 he'll get the ball in space only to stop, check back inside and play a no risk ball to Sheehan.

Personally think Sheehan has been brilliant this season by and large but centre back is a hard one to judge as they rarely stand out for other teams in the one or two games you see them in and stats you can't judge them on stats like you can with goalscorers.

Loan players aren’t eligible apparently, otherwise I imagine that Grant would’ve been in the team and nominated for player of the season.

Would have thought Dennis from Chesterfield might have got a look in also. Scored goals in a pretty dire side, can't imagine he's had much to work with

Danny Hylton is the best striker in the division and we're lucky to have him. Has only played 34 games in the League this season - has scored 46 in 85 games for us over 2 years.
