I hope Newport and Cardiff both register objections. I mean I don't like I personally, because it seems tinpot to me to need to say 'English'... this is 'The' Football League, there is no other that matters. But the Welsh teams have much more legitimate reason to dislike it.

Fuck them, They're playing in the English leagues. Besides Cardiff didn't give a toss whilst they were playing in the English Premier League.

What happens when Swansea get relegated, do they get kicked out of the EFL? Or Cardiff? Wouldn't mind that tbh, give us a better chance of going up and god knows we need all the help we can get

Play in the English pyramid system so it makes little difference to me.

I wonder if Berwick Rangers complain about the S in SFL or whatever it's called?

sounds and looks sh*t.

We somehow amazingly add 'English' to the title and make it sound even more American.

no way I am using EFL name-tag....horrible marketing b*llocks, but at least I can just keep calling it 'football league' I suppose.

Take the three letter acronym away from 2015 society and watch all out anarchy ensue.

The biggest battle that the twenty-first century faces is the one against the fuckwits that insist on turning every issue of humanmankind in to a TLA.

Well put :D I'm almost certain the marketing consultant's report including lots of references to the NFL,NBA,NHL,PGA,NRA accompanied by viewing and merchandising figures, and perhaps also references to how often the US Media refer to the Prem as the EPL despite that having never been its name.

TLA isn't an acronym, it's an abbreviation.

EFL is an attempt to hang onto the EPL's coat-tails. I do wonder when the latter will take off as an abbreviation on British soil. Won't be long.

There is a difference between abbreviations and acronyms.
Well I get that, what I don't get is what your interpretation of the difference is for you to come to that conclusion.

I mean, just. If the things being said on this post aren't acronyms then give me an example of something that is an acronym.

Americans love to use initials instead of saying it properly ... its like www , it's quicker world wide Web than it is to say www

Indeed there is. The only thing I can think TLA would be an abbreviation of is one of the Aztec city states. I'll go for Tlacozauhtitlan.
