Swindon v Bradford this weekend, what a time to be alive!

I'm going, fully expecting a defeat and to be outplayed by a more physical, better side. Its my last time having to watch Swindon this calendar year (unless I go to Millwall on Boxing Day, which I might) and its been a pretty crap footballing year all told.

Perhaps Sherwood and his ideas may start to bear fruit and we might look like we actually want to win a game. I doubt it.

Oh and Firthy, nobody cares about how many fans Bradford are bringing on Saturday so keep that nonsense in the away thread please.

Honestly never thought I would get to the stage supporting STFC when I genuinely couldn't give a fuck.

Since 19 fucking 68 I've followed my club and had some great laughs and amazing games amongst what was, generally, a lot of shite - as most on here will testify to following their own club.

But now I have no idea where our club is in the scheme of things. Are we owned by a misunderstood genius who has bought another club (Waterford United) and is in the process of buying another in Montenegro - thereby feeding STFC with Irish and Balkan superstars!

Or are we being bled dry and brought to the edge of existence by an asset-stripping, couldn't-give-a-fuck cockney wide boy whose only interest is lining his own pockets.

There is an awful lot of smoke and mirrors at the CG, what with Captain Bellend now in charge yet the fella he replaces is still in situ.

I fear that by the time the smoke clears many fans would have already gone.

Still, chin up,

Not only us. There's loads more unrest at Charlton, Coventry, Orient, Oldham, Bury etc. All with their own individual off field problems but all linked by tosspot owners.

Get the eerie feeling there may be some terminal casualties in the coming few years

Pwemier League fwends! Our 'physical' side is somewhere over the M62 in Bolton now, if anything we've been a bit soft at times this season and teams who have pressed us quickly and not given us time on the ball or taken advantage of our two smallish centre halves with crosses, have generally done fairly well against us, only Hanson starts who could be classed as physical nowadays and he's just clumsy rather than hard man.
Our record vs Swindon is a poor one from memory, can't remember too many if any wins down there or up here for that matter. Saying that the Sherwood experiment is yet to properly kick in so hopefully that can wait another week. I think this one is more than winnable but history says avoid it on your accumulator. Optimistic 2-0 away win though.

Obika back to fitness is massive (until he breaks down again) and probably the only reason I have any sort of optimism going into tomorrow.

Hoping to sneak a 2-1 but can see a defeat.

Great to see Chris Kamara in your Avatar. A Swindon and Bradford legend for sure!

Jeez, you pair have suffered even longer than I have. My 1st game wasn't until 1981, a first round FA cup tie at Plymouth which was 0-0 (start as you mean to go on). I never saw us winning anything before I was 36!! (yes we did get promoted in '96, but we didn't win the league)

Well, seeing as we've won the League Cup, reached 2 more semi-finals, got to the PL, had Hoddle and Ardiles playing for us, got to Wembley 6 times against winning the Watney Cup and falling out of the football league, yeah, I'm pretty sure I made the right choice!

Your reply could apply to any of us small club supporters. The low years outnumber the highs but whenever we have a high, boy is it good. In season though, we do manage a routine; a couple of bevvies at lunchtime followed b 2 hours of nervous tension, then Sat eve we are so ecstatic, we get wrecked or so depressed, we still get wrecked.

We seem to do arse at Swindon. Probably last time we won there was the only time I went when Steve Claridge scored a brace. As you can guess it was at least 10 years ago.

Was important we won on Tuesday after getting scuttled by Southend, hoping it means we don't crumble too much and manage a point today or something.

Apparently we'd only sold 200 tickets the other day so doubt there will be more than 500.

Seem to have hit a lull since the Wimbledon game. Noticed there was 'only' less than 16k against Northampton even with it being cheap tickets because it was Bobby Campbell's memorial, some people were predicting close to 20k.

We were turgid that season with the likes of Ricky Shakes and Charlie Comyn Platt in the squad.

Remember watching that game, shitty weather and you were in a horrible silver/grey strip. The day I knew we were going down as Claridge and Windass ran riot.

A more fond memory is Sammy Igoe's free kick winner a season or two before. 1-0 win. And of course coming from 0-1 down to win 4-1 on the opening day last season with Nathan Byrne rattling in 3 goals before being sold off to Wolves.

I think Claridge only scored once more for us. We were awful as well at that time and were well and truly on the slide between Premiership to 18th in L2 or whatever the low point was. Think we went down from L1 the season after that game. Thankfully better times for us and I'm sure Swindon will sort themselves out soon.

The usual embarrassing result down at Swindon, second 1-0 away loss of the season to a direct free kick

Awful again!!

Did you think so? I thought both sides were quite good, perhaps until the final third. Bradford were neat and today and I was impressed with your number 4 and 3. For once we defended like lions and were able to repel all of your launches into the box.

Overall delighted we ground out the win, we should have wrapped it up in the second half but our decision making in the final third was off. Great goal to win it and happy to see more grit and desire in the team than in previous matches.

Tom Smith deserves a mention, the lad looks like a wimpy kid but he's got the heart and drive of a much bigger man, and he won headers too! Top work fella! Big Jon Obika was my man of the match, strong as an Ox (is that enough animal metaphors?), he's been badly missed.

Good luck bantams for the rest of the season.

Harsh on McNulty, all out strikers are below par. It's simply an area that needs addressing in Jan and in truth it has been since September.

Not unexpected result, fair play to Swindon. With a few home games now until Xmas lets just get this week out the way.

The disability game at half time between Kids from Swindon and Bradford was top class. It was brilliant to see them doing a lap of honour and lapping up the applause from the crowd. Well done to both clubs.

City put a bit of effort into the disability teams, they play at half time on the pitch around 10 games a season. I think one of the coaches won a national award for his work last year. Can't remember them going to an away game and playing the home side though so fair play to Swindon.

Finley,

Our assessment on McNulty is that he doesn't do a right lot, looks a bit lazy and doesn't look up to standard BUT then he'll pop up with a goal. He showed himself to be a good finisher, a bit of a preditor.

So he split opinion at Bramall Lane. He was the type of player that would be having a poor game, do very little, then score a well taken goal near the end.

We don t think he has much of a future at SU because Wilder wants strikers with a high workrate
Who are prepared to chase back, press and close down opposition defenders.
