Apparently FIFA is an online game but with big name backing.
So well done those Vegans.

The club has put out following statement:

Forest Green Rovers players have today become the first outside of Europe’s top divisions to be face captured for FIFA 18 – the best selling football game on the planet.

EA SPORTS selected FGR for the experience to celebrate the club winning promotion to the Football League for the first time in its 128 year history.

Every player will go through the face capture to ensure they look as realistic as possible in EA SPORTS FIFA 18, which will be released on September 29th.

The first player scanned was Christian Doidge, who said: “It’s incredible - obviously it’s the first time FGR have been on FIFA, so for them to put that amount of detail into it is absolutely unbelievable. The guys are saying that we’re the first team outside of the top divisions to have it done so it’s a good feeling and the boys will be really excited.”

Head of Communications, Electronic Arts UK, Shaun White, said: "The Forest Green Rovers story is remarkable and we are excited to have the opportunity to work with them. Having won promotion to the Football League, we wanted to celebrate their debut appearance in FIFA 18 by bringing our face-capture technology to The New Lawn Stadium and allowing them to go through the same process as cover star, Cristiano Ronaldo, and all the top players from the biggest leagues around the world."

No offence to FGR, who have every right to be here and who to be fair, held their own (just) in the Conference for many years before Vince turned up, but how often does it have to happen before the Premiership-obsessed media stop thinking it 'remarkable' every time a tiny club with a millionaire owner get promoted out of a division where most clubs don't have a pot to piss in?

To be fair, FIFA 17 is the first one I'd played on for about 12 years and I was really surprised at how alike the lower league players actually did look - the majority were pretty accurate anyway.

Didn't get 17, but played 16 a bit and was surprised to see that the impact engine was still a fucking joke, sneeze and it's a foul. EA always do so much towards the shell and all the online stuff but it's things like that and the overall in game AI that always seems to get neglected.

Used to enjoy Pro Evo's gameplay a lot more back in the day, haven't played that in a while though so FIFA might have caught it on that front. Lack of licensing always threw up hilariously shit names as well.

Oh yeah, now I remember why I hated them in the Conference. Previous statement retracted.

Ah, there's a backstory to that. The main developer was looking for inspiration on how to improve the impact engine back in 2015, and by chance ended up at a Wycombe game. The legend goes that that was all they needed and a brand new impact engine followed on not long after.

Don't FGR have more players in their squad than fans? Not sure who will actually appreciate the huge significance of this

What's this? A wise crack about our attendances? Never seen such original, inventive wit.

Shame Pro Evo hasn't got the lower leagues yet. It's not a perfect game either but its gameplay is still a million times ahead of FIFA.

Last FIFA owned was Road To World Cup '98!

Haven't played FIFA for years. PES was the one I generally owned although I've not had a games console since a year or two after the PS2 came out.

Dan, don't be so tetchy.
Presumably there are other games around but FGR are first be to invited onto this FIFA game.
I'm happy for you to explain which game that Port Vale were included.
And yes you are right FGR are f*****g minnows in crowd attendances compared to established league clubs but ours are rising every year. :2thumb:

Why? I'm guessing it was at the height of Robbie Williams' career, and related to him.

He provided the soundtrack for FIFA 2000, but part of the agreement of him doing that was that Vale were included on the game. We were in the 'Rest of the World' section.

FGR will probably have the lowest ranked team in the game anyway... Or it might still be Cheltenham
