Only 22 years after it first opened... the Lorne Street is finally ‘looking’ complete!

It has been completed for the now postponed Robbie Williams concert and fans are raising money for the concourse to be complete so we can use the new sections but from the outside after years of looking at a concrete embankment (well decades) it looks complete!

Blimey, 22 years to build a stand, they started building it around the time we were promoted to the Conference!

Have to say that it does look pretty good now the job has been finished.

Yeah the seats in the other part plus a few in the bycars need replacing due to them fading in the sun. Also wondering if the seats in the away end will be replaced so that it says port vale football club again and not got random blue or yellow ones put in where black ones should be.

Nice! Seems a shame you still in L2, when some of the other grounds would embarrass the National League South (and North)

Cheers CG, I agree it is over the top opulence for this division and we ought to have just built a temporary stand with no roof and handed out the odd poncho for the 20 games a season it p`s down when we play at home.

Don’t forget though when the stand was planned and work started we were a Championship club with aspirations of the Premier League, crazy as that sounds.

We had come close to the Championship play offs the year before it started didn't we? Guppy, McCarthy, Bogie, Foyle etc... totally different club then!

Nice to see we have made the national press for our work during the lockdown period supplying locals etc.

Swear around the start of the 2000s Vale were planning on moving to a stadium in Festival Park?

Don't recall that one, originally the idea was Vale and Stoke shared the Britannia Stadium before that was built but we didn't want to move out the North of the City.

That said we've had a few weird ideas so it probably was mooted at one point! Port Vale Spitfires, the American investment, the Harlequin sponsorship etc etc etc!

I am just pleased we got Carol and Kevin in... had Smurf been in charge during this we'd be screwed!

The festival park idea was that a new ground would be built for Port Vale and Stoke to share. Billy Bell pulled out as we were paying for most of it and Stoke not paying much more than the zero contribution they paid to the community stadium.
It would have been around 1990.
