We (by which I mean those who remain next season), will be part of the EFL - The English Football League, as part of a rebrand. HOW EXCITING.

What does it entail? A change of name and some snazzy new matchball's and graphics no less. The punters will be flying through the doors to pay £39 at Sheffield Wednesday and £21 to sit in our away end (if we remain, lol), in this exciting new competition.

What a load of crap.

too close to EDL for my liking, coincidence? I think not

Have it on good authority that EDL is the defenders equivalent of the Goalkeepers Union. Sort of like the Stonemasons from the Simpsons, but with Zat Knight and Steve McNulty.

I'm glad it's not just me.

A missed opportunity. Could have called it something like the FootballPunch MegaPower league and really boosted attendances.

What about the French Disco Lovers association. The English disco lovers seem just as bad as the EDL to me.

I can't imagine the French liking disco. Don't know why, I just can't.
Disco owes as much to France as it does to the US actually. Where does the word discothèque come from and Cerrone was one of the disco pioneers? Believe you me the French do love disco!

That makes me absurdly happy for some reason.

I'm sure this is exactly what the FL were hoping for. Within 45 minutes, the topic has changed from the re-branding to the how big an influence the French were during the disco movement.

Excellent stuff.

Back on topic - how much money has been spent on essentially adding 1 word to the title?

Marketing 'gurus' trying to justify their jobs once again.

"The EFL name will be accompanied by a stunning new visual identity featuring a dynamic circular arrangement of 72 balls in three swathes of 24, representing each of the League’s member clubs and the respective divisions they play in"

Fuck off, I could have come up with that on paint within five minutes. I hate the term 'BPL' as it is. At least have the divisions EFL 1, EFL 2, EFL 3 and a brand spanking new EFL 4 including the 'National League' with a 3 up 3 down system.

Adding the conference would be more than a mere rebranding though as I'm sure the people that run the Conference want it to have its own identity.

A dynamic circular arrangement as opposed to a sluggish one?

They'll want to try better next time then.

Because the 'National League' clearly isn't sticking ;)

Makes no real difference does it. Someone asks what league your team is in and you say League Two. Football League or now English Football League is very rarely said.

Even Sky go with FL72

Thing is, I'm sure that's what people said when they introduced Championship/League One/League Two, and probably when they introduced the Premier League and changed the 3 divisions below. Majority of people will be using "EFL" in 5-6 years time, people get completely overpowered by branding and don't even realise it.
