As a side show from our probable defeat our manager Mr Aspin has banned our players from wearing gloves in games.
I'm in agreement as i feel it shows a players character if they are dithering around worrying about their precious little hands and fingers instead of getting stuck into the game.
On to the game the perennial over achievers Accrington are a tough nut to crack. Which Vale will show up i wonder, the last 2 games at Vegan Green Rovers and at home to Yeovil were back to the Michael Brown days and relegation performances.
Hoping for some reaction but still got a feeling we'll get beat 2-0 .
Gloves or no gloves will Montano lose his special powers that his Thinsulates give him

On the back of 3 wins in a row (first time this season) following 4 losses in a row. Looking forward to it, hope the rubbish weather in lancashire doesn't scupper this. Agree about the gloves - shouldn't need them
Kee has quietly become top scorer in the league and our defence hasn't conceded in 3 games (4 if you include the half game against morecambe) but it still feels like we are flying under the radar despite being in the top 7 for most of the season. No one is predicting us to be promotion candidates.
Maybe, rather than overachieving, we have quality players who are good enough to get us promoted.

maybe what i put was disrespectful to your achievements Tom. wasn't meant that way, lets face it you were nearly automatic promotion recently too.
Felt at our place we ought to of been out of sight but once you equalised there was only going to be one winner.
Was impressed with the keeper too ( Chapman ? ) , seemed quite commanding and imposing, can we have him ?

Accrington are overachieveing if you base it on budget.

Knowing us the last few weeks, we will go there, play well and win 3-0..

Would take a draw to be honest.

A point will be a good result, but which Vale will turn up?

Hoping its the one that beat Luton.

I've not checked this, but Vale seem wildly inconsistent since Aspin took over. That's better than consistently losing, don't get me wrong!

We seem to have 2 teams. One that turns up sometimes that looks like a top 7 side and then another that looks like a side destined to go down. It’s very frustrating. Aspin needs time and he will get thatbat Vale. He needs a summer of bringing in his own players and getting a squad playing together how he wants them to play.

We go through consistent spells inconsistently! So we will play well for 4 or 5 games, then bad for a few then good again etc.

Today sounds like both sides of us turned up, regardless of the goal that shouldn’t have stood when he’s scored with his arm
we need to be seeing games like that out.

Very angry.

I just don’t understand why we can’t keep hold of the ball and just play nice simple passes around the middle third of the pitch when we are winning games. Instead, we just seem to fall apart and start hoofing it forward or try stupid things that see us lose the ball and put loads of pressure on us.

Just keep the ball!

I'd suggest confidence maybe... The Notts County defeat seemed to trigger dire performances in the way the Mansfield one did and we stuttered a bit with the horror show at Lincoln and meh games against Yeovil in the cup and Cambridge.

You were a better side than we played against earlier this season, and in fairness made us fight for the three points - something a lot of teams have failed to do at the Crown Ground. Stopped our widemen getting much of the ball first half, think our centre halves played more passes than any other players! I'm sure you'll be safe come the end of the season

Felt like a turning point yesterday - confidence slowly growing in getting promotion

Oddly that early season performance was one of the best pre Aspin! Highlights how bad we were!

Does that include the goalkeeper :bg:

To be fair Aspo has banned diving and feigning injury too. Proper hard man as a player in the 90's so doesn't like that sort of thing. Only issue is that so many teams do it as we have seen in recent years that it could be a huge disadvantage to ban it which is a sad thing.

I'm all for it. He can ban stupid hair cuts and multi coloured boots for me too.

Shame about the result, I couldn't go to this one so can't comment too much, but it seemed we were lucky to go 0-2 up but then it does look a blatant handball for their second. I do think we'd have lost anyway but it's not nice to see decisions like that being bottled.
