That's been my thoughts. Jatta has been close to sensational even though he's isolated for large periods. One up top works and has been working but where are the midfielders joining him in the box when balls come in from advanced positions????

Jatta is an odd one. Thought he looked a threat at times but an absolute donkey at others. I'm guessing he's one of those really unpredictable players.

He was good aerially in winning the headers but poor finishing, if you knock on the door enough you'll get through maybe and he was their main target for balls in, reminded me a bit of Akpo Sodje maybe? Who did very well.

He’s raw but exciting, scoring a goal every 100 minutes or so since we signed him, which you can’t really argue with. If he stays fit and hits 20+ goals then I expect he gets sold for a significant amount next summer because the ceiling is really high for a guy like that who has an eye for goal while being so tall, strong and quick.

You’re the only team to stop him scoring since the opening day I think, and even then he really should’ve done with one of those headers.

Yes in that one game he dominated in the air but his finishing was very poor. Thankfully that hasn't been the norm as his stats at Notts show. He's scoring a nice variety of goals that match his physical attributes and been pretty clinical.

He must be one of the most exciting and impressive forwards in the league and he's only 25. He's a Prince amongst League Two men.

Probably true for someone who’s come through the standard academy system over here, but I’m not sure it is for a guy who was playing football in the Gambian league until he was 20, and then a further couple of years in Estonia and the Danish second division. He simply won’t have had the amount of professional coaching and playing time that most footballers will have had by 25.

The guy he replaced would be a good example - Langstaff had a very different but also completely non-standard route into professional football and he pretty clearly found a new level at 25/26.

i never said there was a set rule, in fact I explicitly stated there are examples, like Langstaff, where a player can kick on later in their career. Maybe Jatta is another example of a late bloomer. I'm just saying it doesn't happen often.

My apologise I missed your reference to Langstaff being an exception. Your post following my comments on Jatta and him being 25 seemed to imply you were suggesting he couldn't be raw in his mid20s.

Add him to the list. He reminds me of Akeem Joffer although he was 21.

Newport (A) Friday night.

Form wise, we’re coming off the back of x3 draws in a row. The Bromley & Walsall games definitely felt more like a point gained rather than 2 points lost, but the nature of the last minute goal Notts scored last weekend definitely felt like 2 points dropped even if on the balance of play a draw was probably a fair result. That result stings that little bit more now that the referee apparently admitted he shouldn’t have given that pen to Notts in his post game notes, and ANOTHER apology has been issued… we’ve had more apologies than bloody points this season so far ffs

Team news wise we’ve a few key men out of this one, so the squads gonna have to be utilised once again. Tom Naylor is suspended after picking up 5 yellows, whilst Chey Dunkley & Devan Tanton are still out with knocks. Doubt Fleck will be back either, & not heard anything about Boot who missed last game so assuming he’s probably still out too.

Had a quick browse of your forum the other day as the meltdowns seem similar to our message boards when we are doing badly and now we are doing a bit better i have had to look elsewhere for my fix of impending doom .

The thing that made me stand up was that the poster 'Keywest' is either one of those Piateks or someone extremely close to them ; pushing positivity and effectively telling some of your fanbase in a subtle way to wind their neck in which I found interesting....

He's been on the forum since the takeover, and in those 11 months he's not had a bad word for the membership. The post you saw is the first time he's had any hint of a disagreement with any of our fans, and was directed at one of our more pessimistic members.

Hopefully we can turn Harrogate over on Saturday and start to get things back on track. The forum was quite a happy place by football message board standards until December/January....

It’s a common phenomenon for the naysayers on football forums disappear when things are going well, only to reappear once form drops off again. Some people seem to find it easier to talk about negatives than they do positives.

It was a great goal and the lad who put the ridiculous curved cross in was a 17 year old youth lad thrown in due to injury so chuffed with him, another big prospect.

Should be a good game, a huge week for the club with three big games and the John Rudge statue unveiling Monday before the big celebration against AFC Wimbledon next week.

Stockley has been outstanding for us, won the PFA player of the month this month and has been exactly what we've missed since Jamie Proctor/Tom Pope in that role. His chest control is ridiculous! He owes us one tomorrow for those two heartbreakers late on in the fixture last season!

It’s annoying anyway cos Jones doesn’t need to slide in, Mandeville is literally just about to clear that horrendous cross that came into the box, before jones slides and kicks it against Mandevilles outstretched arm one yard away. If your player doesn’t scuff that cross, it likely gets cleared and we win the game… just how it goes sometimes

I’m surprised by that - too many penalties given for handball is one of my big hates, but I thought that one was about as nailed as you’re going to get. His arm’s basically up out level with his head and it stops it getting to Tsaroulla for what would probably be a tap in at the far post. But it deflects off his own player and he doesn’t know anything about it, I guess. I’d be pretty happy if handball penalties were basically restricted to the absolutely obvious Suarez vs Ghana type stuff tbh.

I’m going for Williams instead of Grimes tonight as Cook likes his left and right footed centre halves.

Still, it’s not an ideal lineup is it. Definitely feels like one we’ll need to score more than they do.

It's no surprise to me that Fleetwood have started well . They looked good towards the end of last season and have some really good players in their squad. It would not surprise me one bit if they were top 3 at the end of the season.

What's winning us games at the moment is the depth of our squad. When we make subs, it doesn't weaken us and in some instances makes us stronger. Notts, Mk dons and Accrington all looked weaker after subs but we looked stronger. Chislett would make most teams in this league but hasn't played a minute in the last 2.

Our first 11 is probably not as strong as some but it's a squad game now with the 5 subs.

So, whilst I look at some of Fleetwood's players with concern, they will also be doing the same to us.

It's the type of game that we have habitually lost over the last few years. As soon as a form team rolls into town and there is a bit of expectation on ourselves, we tend to roll over. I'm hoping this squad is different.
