Merry Christmas to all our Essex friends and I’d like to inform everyone that I’m back on my bullshit. A lovely win against Rotherham has given me a much needed injection of festive bullishness.
I attended this fixture last year with Essex’s finest Kim Mitten and we agreed that Southend didn’t turn up.
I foresee a similar scenario this time around and a comprehensive 4-1 Gas victory.
Many thanks.
UTG.

Aber, you’re not allowed to make threads on Rovers remember?

Anyway, a good start to the game so far, we’ve been dominant although we nearly gifted a goal with Sweeney missing the ball. Good stuff so far, I’ve been very curious to see how the midfield would do, but so far not too bad

Very dominant today.
23 shots to their 3, 11 on target to their 0.
Getting back to our best with Bodin back and with Partington in the holding midfield role. Long may it continue.
Saw a very good stat: we've won every home game in December for the last 5 years.

Seems like a few teams might be keen on Bodin in the window. How long has he got left on his contract?

Hey gasheads, I heard one of yours was stabbed after the game in a non football related argument. I wish my fellow football fan a speedy recovery!
Absolutely disgusting behavior! Little bastards pulling a blade out! :(

Contract up in the summer
He's got a contract offer on the table so hopefully we can tie him down and get good money for him if he does go. It's no coincidence that we've massively improved over the last 3 games with him back.

Shocking. Police have put out an appeal, hope the bastards get locked away and the shit kicked out of them.

Hmmm I know McCall's a fan from when he wanted him whilst at Motherwell. Wonder if he fancies a move up North, he could certainly help with our promotion push he could be playing championship football by August.

One of my mates dads, happened after the game, three lads on bikes were piping up and he made a comment, things boiled over and one of them pulled out a knife apparently. Thankfully he's stable, speedy recovery.

Phil Brown is spot on when he said this could easily have been 6 or 7. Apart from a 10 minute spell towards the end of the first half it was one way traffic.

23 Attempts to Southends 3
11 On Target to Southends 0
9 Corners to Southends 2

Very, very comfortable. If it wasn't for their keeper- who was superb by the way - it could have been a lot more.

Bodin and Harrison were different class but every player had a great game and played their part in a superb team performance.

I remember a few of you contradicted my claim of Bodin being a better player than Taylor. Do you still think that ? I know who I would certainly have in my team.

I reckon he'll be playing Champioship football before then.

Struggling to believe how one sided that game was - total domination apart from maybe 15 minutes or so at the end of the first half.

2nd half performance especially was absolutely outstanding, just wave after wave of attack.

Bodin is a weird one really - he's obviously our best player, but when he's in the team, we're not a 1 man team (what i mean by this is he isn't the only player to create anything/everyone else is terrible). What he does to though is firstly create acres of space, normally teams mark him with 2 players, which often isn't enough, but this allows space to Gaffney and Harrison to break through. He also just gives you hope that at any point, he can score from nothing. When he's in the team, the rest of the squad picks up their game too, Leadbitter for example has been superb since Bodin came back from injury...

I guess because of this, it does make us a 1 man team but it's a weird one, because he certainly wasn't MOTM on Saturday... Let's hope we can keep him or at least get him on a contract and sell him in January for some decent money!

Disagree with that Gassy.

I've seen every game this season except Portsmouth away and I'd go as far as saying that Bodin put in the best individual performance I've seen from any player in any team this season.

Thought he was different class. Superb touch, vision, one touch flicks, forward runs, goal and assist.

We had many other players who were also excellent on Saturday but for me Bodin was MOTM. Best player in L1 on his day in my opinion.

I can't see getting offers in excess of 300k in January unless he signs a new deal due to his contract siituation and if that's the case I'd keep him until the summer even though that means we'd probably lose him for nothing.

11 Wins in 19 with Bodin / 1 Win in 10 without Bodin. The stats speak for themselves. We can't afford to let him go in January unless DC has a superstar replacement lined up because our form without him was so bad we'd almost certainly go down.

The only league games I've missed have been Scunthorpe & Wimbledon (although he wasn't playing) - I personally thought at times he was a bit too greedy with the ball as well to deserve MOTM. For sure is one of, if not the best players in L1, but just on the day, I thought there were so many exceptional performances that he just looked normal I guess.

I don't know which I'd prefer, get some money for him or not. I guess i'd rather keep him and let him go for free - seeming as we suddenly picked up form as he came back. If I had assurances the board would invest the money back to DC, i'd take the money, but frankly, I don't trust them right now
