Back home after 3 good away results, another positive result here would mark a stunning start to the season for us. Could have a few back from injury too, with McDonald supposed to start training again today, and Loft, Morris and Osadebe not far away from a return to the squad. Can't really break up the team that's started so well though so they'll have to make do with a space on the bench if they make the squad at all.

Nelson
Jackson - Egan - Oshilaja - Dickenson
Wright
Houghton - Hessenthaler
Dack
Norris - Donnelly
G.Morris, Ehmer, Garmston, Williamson, McGlashan, Osadebe, McDonald.

1-1 draw.

Christ. That bench would have been a walk up start for us last season

(maybe Ben W aside, but he'd have pushed them)

Ever the pessimist, and after our good start, I reckon we might be looking at our first loss here.
I'll go for 1-2

If we perform like we did on Tuesday and the opening day vs sheffield utd I see no reason why we can't win, we need to get at the from the 1st minute and let them know that we won't roll over.

Gills 2-1 Wigan

Dack & Norris

Wigan seem very confident on their forum.
They are describing last night's win against Scunny as 'the best performance for 5 years' etc.
We have started the season well and are unbeaten.
We may have Morris and Osedebe back for this, though both will probably start on the bench. That would be a real boost.
A tough game this, after all not much more than a year ago Wigan were Premier League, and they have spent cash in the summer on players like Grigg.
Looking forward to it and hopeful, if not overly confident.
It will be interesting to see how many the egg chasers bring as well. They had truly dreadful support before they went to the promised land.

I think Wigan might have a bit too much for us and fully expect them to be challenging for the title this season. However it's early on and results can be a bit strange at this stage with teams still trying out players and formations. If we play like we did against Sheff Utd I'd have every confidence we can take something from the match, but, like I said, I think it's going to be tricky.

If we can get something out of this game it will reinforce what a tremendous start we have had and mean that we shouldn't fear any side in this division.

Hopefully Cody will take some part, but Wigan's strikeforce looks fearsome. I will take a draw and go for 1-1.

Disappointing that after weeks of being told that Osadebe, Morris and Loft are 'nearly there', all three are still out and will play no part tomorrow.
Cody may well be on the bench but I do think that without Morris our midfield does lack a little bite.
Oh well, still looking forward to what I reckon will be a good game.

Are there any Pie-eaters on this forum at all?

I reckon score draw, gonna plump for a hard-fought 1-1.

Not seen a team with so much desire in a long time, which is extremely pleasing, and gets you half way towards positive results before a ball has even been kicked.

Dack was superb again today, we're going to be lucky to keep him much longer. A solid team performance from all though.

I've given up even thinking Dack will be here in January, if we still have him by the end of this month I will be delighted.

Yet another top performance from the gills.

Didn't expect 3 of 4 wins in the league, last time we started this well we went on to win the league 2 title.

What's your point?

Actually I know what you're hinting at, and as good as he is, he's not singlehandedly grinding out results.

Tongue in cheek bud.

You're a good side. Maybe people will see how good our draw was against each other now. We are both capable sides and have a couple of stand-out players. We both have a younger and hungrier side and a lot more pace and movement. I fancy both our chances this season if we don't lose any key players through injuries or somebody coming in for them.

I thought Ryan Jackson was our MOM today for what it's worth, haven't seen an attacking full back as comfortable with the ball at feet for a long time at Priestfield. Still think we need a little something more up front, but that would be nit-picking.

Yeah I'd agree with that, he was excellent. I guess Cody will be the striker we need, Norris was a tad unlucky with a couple of his efforts today though.

Vale fans commenting on every thread. Shock

No prob when its all good banter and comments. Good victory for your lot today. Unbeaten start as well. Like another vale fan said earlier, think we might both surprise a lot of teams this season. Both look to be a lot better than last season.

As for our result. Remarkable that we have 10pts after our tough start. Lot of us thought we might just lose all 4. We won't be under the radar for much longer.

Also amazing that we've done this without Cody, Garmston, Ehmer and Loft having a kick yet. And the young spurs bloke Osadebe out at the moment. I can't remember the last time we had the problem of too many decent players for the first X1. Very un-gills-like :bg:
