Last year I lost count how many goalies we had, was it seven or eight? Anyway brought in Harry Burgoyne on season long loan to be our number one. And he has today broken his ankle on tour in Holland. Letheren is a decent backup, but not one you’d want to be the main man. Cooper is probably going to be good enough, but at 18 not yet. So with the season looming I suspect we will be in the market for a Championship keeper on loan tout suit.

If I was a keeper I'd be steering clear of Plymouth on that basis. :bg:

The way Karius has been playing in pre-season for Liverpool, he could be a good shout for League One.

We had this the first year under Cook. We did end up using 5 keepers and I thought that was a alot. We also had the same injury curse with Left Backs last year. Think we ended up playing 7 different players at left back. Holmes-Dennis played 30 mins of his loan spell, Damian McCrory , who replaced H-D on loan played a handfull of games, then was out until the end of his loan, Stephen Henderson played 78 mins of his loan then his thigh popped.. its not fun when you anger the injury gods!!

Local rag are reporting that as Norwich have brought in Tim Krul, Remi Matthews may be going out on loan. That would solve our keeper issues.

I see they have got Matt Macey on loan from arsenal.

We had him when we made a bit of a mess of the loan system and lost Christian Walton halfway through a season. I recall him playing a few times and looking very shaky indeed, eventually losing his place to Simon Moore who was absolutely terrible and made awful very costly errors.

On paper he looks very good, but what you say worries me. Though was that not two seasons ago, so maybe he is better, and he has played for Arsenal firsts twice. What of Accy fans, how was he he for you? Was is indisputable is that he is a big unit. Oh well, we'll soon find out what he is like.

He was very shaky from what I recall, seem to think he was an ok shot stopper but really bad on crosses and corners, but the fact he lost his place to Moore who was an absolutely awful goalkeeper is the biggest thing for me. (EDIT: Just rechecked and i have mis-remembered events - he got recalled by Arsenal when they had a GK crisis. So some further hope there!)

As for Accrington, I remember seeing this video when we signed him:

Like you say though this was some time ago! He has played cup games for Arsenal since then, so maybe some improvements

Gulp, not good watching that. How can someone that big let in the first goal? It almost defies the laws of physics. Thanks for your insight. Anyway, as wilsden said he’ll be injured by next week anyway

Beggars can't be choosers. It's like complaining that the 8th wine glass has a smudge on it when you've just carelessly smashed the seven other ones in the set.

This used to be our speciality. I remember a few season's back we went through about 5 keepers. Plymouth seem to be having a nightmare agreed. At least that parasite Mccormack has moved on. How on earth he is even out from behind bars, never mind a professional footballer I will never know?!
