It's no secret that I don't rate Shaun Derry, but then again I'm also well aware that luck hasn't been on our side all throughout the season, mostly with the numerous injury concerns we had and still have. I'm only talking about luck because what was on paper a winnable game is now looking much tougher, only down to the fact that Grimsby decided to sack Bignot and appoint Russell Slade just in time for our visit to lovely Cleethorpes. Unlucky Shaun, but we've got to get on with it.

It's fairly clear that this game will make or break our season as nothing else but a win will keep our slim play off hopes alive, especially with the home clash vs Exeter coming right up before a trip to Pompey.Another thing that really makes this game much more vital to us is that all the other play off hopefuls have got tricky games so a win tomorrow will keep us right in the mix.

But do I think we have enough to come away from Grimsby with all 3 points? Not really. A draw is the much more likelier outcome I reckon.

1-1 with Maris getting our goal.

I think we can win this but Derry needs to believe that too. Grimsby have little to play for so let's take the game to them, press hard and be braver; more movement off the ball and running with it.

We've got ground to make up and draws are no good to us, particularly with the next couple of fixtures (exeter and pompey).

I think we need 10 points to get in the play offs so we need a win but a draw isn't a disaster but will pile the pressure on our other games.

But with the excellent Taylor and Maris news lifting everyone this week, I'm predicting we're going to smash them.

4-0 U's.

Derry teams don't do 0 - 4 away, even at Carlisle. Hartlepool was an anomaly - the team weren't following orders :err:.

A 1 - 0 win (or even 2 - 1) is quite possible. It looks like Uche and Scotty Wharton might start. I've plenty of happy memories of Cleethorpes, twice in 2014, so will travel with optimism. Looking forward to the Haddock and Chips, an optimistic journey home, City v Dorchester on Saturday and then the 6 pointer on Monday.

If it all goes wrong, I'll just watch some Guy Martin videos.

If we come out and take the game to Grimsby like we did at Crewe we will win, the other alternative is we'll shit our pants like the last time we had a chance of getting near the playoff spots. So I'll go somewhere in the middle with an unhelpful 1-1.

What are you talking about - 8 wins and we could be in League 1!

Funny, because I thought the same about Grimsby! There were so many fouls given for nothing in that half.

I thought Cambridge had turned into world beaters after reading this, but looks like they are just the same as every other side between 4th and 14th rubbish one day, average the next.

Didn't go so got no opinion of the game however I'd say that's just about it for us but my assessment for points needed is now 9 from 12 after today's results. Possible but very unlikely.

First half was dire and is best forgotten but we got a game second half. Jamey Osborne has shown why he's one of the best upcoming midfielders in this league, assisted both goals and had their right back left for dead. You wouldn't believe he's not a winger! Berrett got his chance and while he worked hard he was still crap so I'll be surprised if we get many more looks at him. Their goal was a simple take for McKeown but he didn't even attempt it and decided to heatedly blame Andrew instead, lost respect for him throughout this season and he seriously needs to up his game.

Cambridge looked decent without actually being decent. We were quite good and with 3 winnable games coming up, we could go into the Plymouth game still in with a shout.

And what did you read exactly Frealaf? I predicted a draw, as did Tom. Hudds and Alan both said we CAN win this, and of course there's nothing wrong with a bit of belief. If Orient can hold Luton to a draw then a U's win over Grimsby is hardly an earth shattering achievement. Laker predicted a 4-0 win but we all know he was kidding as he always predicts a big win.

I think it was probably Laker's prediction he was referring to mucker.

Scrappy first half where Cambridge edged it. We were better in the second and took our chances. Jamey Osborne is very good. Won the penalty and had the RB on toast for the second.

Thought Cambridge were decent but nothing spectacular. Elito was their best player, even as a sub. My 'cynical' comment earlier was due to Cambridge wasting time after about 10 minutes. Ref was crap, for both teams.

Only possible chance of us making the POs would be to win ALL of our remaining games. Very, very tough ask, as our longest winning run this season is 2 games. Fully expecting us to lose to Cheltenham on Monday.

I always predict we're gonna demolish everyone. A bit of blind optimism never hurt anyone.

For a long time, I've thought we had a reasonable chance of getting to 69 points, 70 at a push (which just went yesterday). With our goal difference, even in the most optimistic of scenarios, we might keep it interesting to the last game but I think my May holiday (booked in September) will not prove an embarassment.

We looked what we are yesterday - a couple of players and a clever/experienced tactician away from a potential promotion side. I see no reason to persist with Connor Newton but have been pleased to see how Jake Carroll and Medy Elito have come on.

It was interesting to hear Slade's interview on the way back. Once again a manager had worked out how to nullify our threat through the middle (O'Neil, Berry & Ichpeazu). Even without Mingoia, we got in quite a few dangerous crosses but finishing them is not part of Uche's game. A finisher in the Barry Corr mould (without the knees? would that work?) is essential.
