Having worked in Grimsby for almost three years, it's fair to say I found Grimbarians an incredibly generous yet odd, overly nostalgic bunch. They would complain about the town being left behind and yet at the same time they'd complain in equal measure at plans to revitalise the town, whether that be the demolition of the tower blocks or plans to knock down some of the dilapidated buildings on the fish docks. It's like they're desperately trying to cling onto their past, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as it gives them that unique identity. Identity is, after all, lacking so much elsewhere in towns and cities up and down the UK. But cmon', the fishing industry is dead, get over it...

The correct and full name of Grimsby is in fact 'Great Grimsby', why shouldn't we be proud of a town with a name like that, not as if we live in Staines or Scunny is it?

I think being serious, that's why places like Grimsby, Barrow etc have struggled as it's "out of the way" not really anything to do with the place, or the people just unfortunate placing.

Apart from a bit of aggro occasionally at footy matches, the people seem nice enough and whereas the article refers to homelessness and drugs that's hardly just related to Grimsby, Manchester city centre where I live and work has more than enough - it's becoming quite the concern
