I've accidentally trodden on bugs before. I also caught a fish once when I was a child, couldn't get it off the hook in time and it died. Both very upsetting. I couldn't kill an animal on purpose.

A poor pheasant ran out on the van on the way to work this morning. Ruined my day it did.

I've shot several rats, but nothing of any importance.

I worked on the foot and mouth disaster in the early part of this century. I despatched 100's of infected animals and then burnt them on giant pyres. It was beyond grim. It was horrific, I'll never forget the smell and the noise.

I had to euthanize a pigeon last year. It flew into my window and got fucked up. Was alive but bleeding badly and had a broken wing. I rang around a few vets as I hate to see animals die but non were pigeon friendly and I was advised to put it out of its misery.
I basically covered it then swung as hard as I could with a shovel. It died instantly albeit a bit messy and I buried it out of respect

I grew up next door to a gamekeeper and used to go shooting with him all the time. Shot all the usual vermin, rats, pigeons, foxes, mixy Rabbits etc. for pest control. Have also shot or trapped rabbit, duck, goose, pheasant and deer, all for the pot.

I wouldn't kill anything for the sake of it, but I have no hestitation in shooting something to eat.

Our cat left a squirrel on death's door in our garden. Came outside and saw Denzel (my cat) sat there with a squirrel tail next to him as if to say "Do you like my work?". Looked to the right and saw a mauled squirrel, eyes still blinking, but just looking at me all sad-like.

I really felt for the poor squirrel, so thought the obvious thing, and the right thing, to do was to put it out of its misery. I went in the house and picked up an empty deep pan Goodfellas box from the previous night and thought "yeah, this'll do, it's a lovely coffin".

Put the squirrel in the pizza box, picked up a large concrete block from the garden debris (I was in the middle of a garden overhaul at the time) and smashed the brick onto the box.

Fucking blood and guts everywhere. It was tragic. Definitely a quick kill though, so job done on that front. Put the box and remains in the bin and then chased Denzel around the garden for the poor fucker's (former) tail.

Never had the good luck to meet one such fine specimen, but I'd like to think we'd get along just fine. Just as long as I'm in a good mood that is.

I've murdered 3 rats for similar reasons to Hurrikeen's squirrel.

Joey (our cat), however prefers to bring home half dead (sometimes fully alive) rats and play with them at home. Smashing a rat's head with a shoe and it's eyes popping and a bit of brain hanging out of its skull ain't pleasant, but there we are.

And if we're counting insects, then I'm a fucking mass murderer, especially this year as we had a wasps nest above our flat, must have killed about 100+ of the fuckers this year.

We had a poorly fish, had been attacked by a heron I think. Can never bring myself to kill thugs other than flies or wasps. Was such a sorry site seeing the poor thing with its gills hanging off, couldn't pick up a stone but knew it needed to go on to pastures new. Then remembered a science teacher telling me about freezing fish to kill them quickly and humanely. My dad wasn't too pleased when he came to defrost some tuna the next day.

Run over and killed a buzzard about 10 years ago and it still haunts me to this day.
