Come up on my Facebook feed that he passed away yesterday, absolutely gutted by this. Met him numerous times at Orient/ Northampton matches and he was genuinely a really sound bloke. I believe he was only 35 as well, which is just far too young :(

RIP Rob

Shit, I've spoke to him quite a few times on TFF. Such a good bloke.

Hope it was at least peaceful. RIP Cobbler :(

Never met him face to face but plenty of chats on TFF and we helped moderate sections together.
Terrible news

Awful, only come across him on the forum a few times but seemed like an intelligent bloke.

RIP.

RIP HertsCobbler.

Tragic news, and far too young! He was only posting on here on Friday.

Any idea of the cause?

Very sad news indeed. Bleak Christmas for his family. RIP.
I wonder if there is a way for the thoughts and sentiments of the forum members to be conveyed to his family?
I know that in similar situations, families and friends have been delighted to hear that their loved one had a whole set of online friends about whom they knew nothing or very little.
Perhaps someone who knew him (Llamas?) could write something on behalf of all the invisible keyboard warriors here?

Oh bloody hell. We've moderated League 2 together for a while and had a fair few chats over twitter about football.

Don't even know what else to say.

RIP Rob.

Fucking awful news. Fond memories of meeting up on the weekend of the final fixtures of the 2008/2009 season. We'd just helped relegate Northampton but he still insisted the drinks were on him.

RIP Rob 'HertsCobbler' Dunkley. X

Don't really know what to add as I can't pretend to have known him very well, and most things I could say will just sound rather trite. But yeah, really, really horrible. Condolences to friends and family.

Yeah same here, Grimsby and Northampton both spent a fair bit of time in each other's divisions over the years though and he was always one of the better, more articulate and sound members. Been a League 2 forum mainstay for a while now. Terrible news.

One of TFF's very best. Extremely active in the lower leagues and General Chat.

Brings back Nik's passing this.

Was speaking to one of Rob's good friends at Saturday's game, was an abdominal aneurysm that burst in the night, was pretty instantaneous. They normally occur in over 65's and heavy smokers so it's a bit of a mystery how Rob had one. Was an emotional day Saturday seeing all of his friends, and in the in game tribute was certainly pretty moving.

It's also genetic, so if you know of anyone in your family that has had one, get yourself checked. It's free for over 50's but you may be able to get a scan from your GP if there is a direct family history. My Dad died from one last year, no signs, no symptoms, no warning. Here today, gone tomorrow. I got myself checked and could be pre-disposed to the condition so now have a scan every six months.

Sounds horrific, thanks for letting us all know though. The in game tribute was pretty special too so well done to all involved.
