Now Oxford have signed Matty Taylor on loan, it's got me wondering if we have the most hometown players in the league.

Regular players should include:

Shandon Baptiste - Youth product
Josh Ruffels - from Oxford, with us since aged 19
Matty Taylor - From Oxford, youth product
Sam Long - From Oxford, youth product
Malachi Napa - Youth product (injured)
Jack Stevens - Youth Product (backup keeper)

Rob Hall, James Henry and Robert Dickie all grew up not too far from Oxfordshire, and there is rumours we are in for Gareth McCleary (from Oxford). It's very conceivable we could start a game where half the players are academy products from Oxford now.

How many players involved with your team's squad are home grown/ home town players? Bolton must have a lot.

If some of the other u23s make the step up (I discount Lopes and Spasov) then we could have a few more added to that list.

So far this season the following have played or been on the bench for competitive fixtures:
Brad Wade
Luke Matheson
Aaron Morley
Callum Camps
Fabio Tavares

We also have Matt Gillam, Lewis Bradley and Harrison Hopper on the books. I expect at least the first of these to appear in at least the Tinpot Trophy this season.

Two for us - Lee Frecklington and Ellis Chapman who are both at opposite ends of their career.

Freck came through our youth system and left us at 21 for Peterborough, then onto Rotherham and back here 18 months ago.

Ellis started in our youth system as well, got signed by Leicester, then decided to leave there and come back here and has been training with the first teams for a couple of years since the age of 16.

Current MK lads playing in the top flight:

Dele Alli
Max Aarons *
Ben Chillwell **
George Baldock
Kevin Danso
Seyi Ojo

**Leicester academy
*Luton/Norwich Academy

I’m sure there’s other MK born players too. Not bad for a town that had barely produced a league player up until 2000.

Our numbers have suffered because of basically closing our Academy to save money when we went out of the League, and anyone half decent in the last ten years went to Prem sides at the age of 14. The Cowleys are keen to get us producing our own players again and we signed a number of exciting scholars this summer. Not sure DC is keen on the current second years, though.

Jordan Adebayo-Smith isn't local - from London - but was signed as a scholar last year and signed pro terms in the summer and looks a good prospect.

A bit difficult to talk about hometown players in London, but in terms of those that came through the academy the first team squad currently has:

Regular starters: Will Nightingale (captain and been here since he was 8), Anthony Hartigan, Paul Kalambayi
Subs: Jack Rudoni, Paul Osew
Fringe: Kyron Stabana, Archie Procter, Reuben Collins, Ossama Ashley, Ayoub Assal

So that's 10 out of the 28-man squad that are homegrown.

2 currently plus a couple more from Southend.

As for the youngsters that came from the academy, we benefitted from Brentford closing their academy down. Kalambayi came from there, as did Toby Sibbick who we sold to Barnsley for a tidy sum.

This season, if no injuries, we will regularly field between between 3 and 5 of the above in our starting 11.

Of the general matchday squad this season, 1 less since Honeyman left:

Denver Hume - from the Northumberland coast and beeen at the club since he was 10
Lynden Gooch - Lived in Sunderland a little while now since coming to the club at 15/16, grew up in California so his accent is a bizarre mixture of Mackm and Californian surfer
Elliot Embleton - From Durham and been at the club since he was knee-high to a grasshopper
Grant Leadbitter - Sunderland fan from Chester-le-Street, was an academy product around a century ago, came back and is now captain
Benji Kimpioka - This one may not really count since we got him as a 15 year old from Sweden but he has been in our academy for a few years.

Also Ethan Robson provided he gets fit will almost certainly come into the squad this season. Been at the club since he was 7.

Think we're actively looking to replace Hume at full-back and Kimpioka is doomed to the bench and the odd impact sub for the rest of his career. The rest will be around the squad until January at least saving some odd bids.
