Was expecting that someone else would have done a thread by now!

We all know both sides are doing quite well, it's a sell out all round and should be a cracker. 1pm KO again as the police think they'll be some form of war between the sides even though we aren't rivals.

In here then please :)

Can both teams lose?

Prefer the Bandwagoners to win I suppose, they’re going up whatever happens and Flitcroft is yet another Mansfield manager who comes across as a bit of a nob. Where do you get them from?

What’s he’s done that’s come across as a nob? He’s not really done anything nobbish yet at Mansfield?

We have been incredibly wasteful in pretty much every game bar three or four all season and it’s going to hurt us eventually against the better teams in the division, plus Lincoln love set-pieces and we struggle a bit at both ends with them too.

BTW Since Lincoln last played we have played four games, so that’s our explanation sorted if we lose.

How about him whining about needing a strong ref on Saturday. Mansfield reserves kicked our second string off the park in the Checkatrade game, wasn't it 4 yellow cards in 30 minutes? You also have a much worse disciplinary record than us this season with nearly twice the amount of cards than us.

We’ve already discussed this in length, ie the Lincoln red card.

He’s said that due to two ridiculous decisions in our games against Charlton, not really nobbish is it you sensitive bastard, I didn’t even know he said that either:lol:

How are Lincoln against a lot of pace?

Gonna be an interesting one.

Mansfield seem to create lots of chances, whereas we don't concede too many chances despite not keeping a clean sheet in 8 games, which is very unusual for us. It's seemed as though most chances have gone in against us in previous games.

Of course the flip side of that is we're, apparently, the highest scorers of the 92 with 44 goals and pretty clinical this season. I wouldn't say we necessarily need good quality chances to score either. In the last two seasons it's felt as though we've had to get up ahead of steam at times to score goals whereas we seem to pop up with goals this season.

I'd get Pett in for McCartan and go with a proper midfield three rather the latter 'in the hole' because he's not someone who'll help us out too much out of possession.

I did notice in the Charlton highlights that 4(?) of their goals came down Mansfield's right, which is our strongest side with Toffolo and Andrade.

Sounds as though we're now a fully fit squad, bar long term Habergham, so the rest will have, in theory, got Eardley, Bostick, Shackell, O'Connor and Frecklington back to full health.

Depends which side.

Our left has pace at full back and the wing, right side more the wing with Anderson but Eardley's compensates for lack of pace with being a few steps ahead in his head. Likewise Shackell at CB.

Tbh, out of possession, we're that compact and organised that pace isn't really an issue. It'll be when possession gets turned over. If you're like MK Dons and pass quick and forwards in those moments, you'll cause more issues for us than someone like FGR who pass slower and more sideways.

I don't doubt O'Connor derived his red, however Mansfield were ultra physical and dirty in that game.

Flitcroft is bemoaning about what to expect on Saturday already despite your poor discipline record compared to ours which is nobbishly hypocritical.

I'm sure the Cowley sisters will be up flapping at every possible oppurtunity - last season between them 2 and Evans I couldn't work out who was windmilling the most with their arms. Doesn't appear to be much love lost between Flitcroft and those 2 - should provide another twist to things - we're still unbeaten away and unbeaten against Lincoln in 9 competitive games - think they last beat us in 2008

I think we'll sit back and look to hit them on the break - we're very fast and if we can actually finish it will be interesting.

Given it's Lincoln at home and the amount of games we've played it's going to be very tough

Looking forward to it, Would take a point but hope we come and go for it.

My prediction is 1-1 on red cards, Dirty Lincoln will drag us down to their antics...

We have been more ‘pass quick’ recently but still incredibly wasteful in front of goal, although we have also had many games where we are a bit sideways. Our main threats recently have been Haydn White (he set up the goal in the fixture last season) and CJ Hamilton who is on the way to becoming way to good for us, both are incredibly quick players.

Rose, Davies are both seriously out of form so we are sort of relying on Walker to score upfront who is also hit and miss quite frankly but still has a good return so far. Khan is our best player at creating chances but he’s been out for a few weeks but we have still been creating plenty without him, we also have injury concerns with our first two CMs Bishop and Mellis.

We will create more than enough chances to win the game but I struggle to find the confidence in scoring at least two and I’m edging towards a Lincoln win because of that.

I’m not sure the discipline table is the best way to look at it.

We were uncharacteristic in that first half against Lincoln, although nothing red card worthy - still yet to get one this season. I can’t imagine coming on here Saturday afternoon thinking tippy tappy Mansfield are a dirtier team than Cowleys Lincoln.

We did get a red at Swindon - which in itself was a ridiculous decision - but one red in 19 games for a "dirty" side isn't a bad stat all the same

We’ve got so many yellows because we pick up silly bookings, ‘Proffesional foul’ they call it, Mostly Bishop’s. Mellis smashing the ball away infront of the ref at Swindon etc.

Same the other night Benning got booked for a foul similar to the one Atkinson was judged to have made at Swindon, Soft as fuck and absolutely no need to make it. White talked himself into the book aswell.

We do need to be more disciplined IMO, If we didn’t have 4/5 on yellows v Bury then someone could have taken Mayor out in the last minute before he walked through everyone and set up an equaliser.

He used to say nobbish things after matches (like most managers), ya buddy Adam used to mention that on a regular basis last season and start of this. Surprised ya missed them all.

Would be happy with a draw straight away. Got a bad feeling Lincoln might give us a bit of a hiding though to be honest.

Looking forward to the day though, on the train, few beers round Lincoln after, probably get the last train back. Should be good. For some reason the police think this is some sort of bubble match, despite there never being any trouble (barring the usual knob head on both sides).

As VM says, his interviews really, I know other teams managers often don’t come across well, and I hear Flitcroft a lot on Radio Notts, he moans a lot and uses silly words.

Blaming the ref for getting pumped 5-0 the other night was a particularly good one.

He didn’t blame them for us losing though. He critisized a decision that he made a right balls up on that they went to score from and then we lost our heads after that. We wouldn’t have been beaten 5-0 if that hadn’t have happened.

He does use some silly words though, I just close my eyes and imagine it’s Paddy McGuiness.

The decision for the offside in the first game and that in the 2nd was really annoying - hard enough playing Charlton as it is, let alone the refs favouring them - as someone else said, I wonder if we get another "official apology" - taking it into account we also received one from the FA after the Cardiff 3rd round replay last season.

Less of the "official apologies" and more of fucking doing your jobs properly (though we didn't need to lose our heads after the decision on Tuesday).

We'll need a strong ref against Lincoln, especially with their play

Can I suggest all Stags fans go on the Lincoln forum? Where as on Stagsnet we are more complimentary and enjoy the ‘rivalry’ majority of them lot fucking hate us, Flitcroft is literally the devil himself and we are pure filthy bastards.

Quite a few of ‘em post on here too, Jesus wept you bunch of weirdos. Yes I’m looking at you David.

Agreed.

To be fair Flitcroft does have a bit of a hard on for Lincoln in comparison to other teams, but the flip side is the media and the fans are looking for anything to grab on too.

Lincoln should take it as a compliment, no other club in L2 has enough home fans inside our grounds to influence referee decisions...

In all fairness, I couldn’t be arsed to post on the Stagsnet thread but I’ve never seen Lincoln as rivals, Doubt they see us as such either and suspect they only really hate us as much now as we had everyone’s least favourite fat man as manager last season. I remember when they used to bring about 400 here so it’s no derby game for me. It’s a game I look forward too more than you’re Cheltenham/Morecambe’s etc though.
