I don't think they would leave Lincoln for any old town, but if The Town were to offer them a job they would most likely jump at the chance.

There's only one set of fans in Lincolnshire panicking at the moment and it certainly isn't us :2thumb:

They've got to have something to take their minds off the dire situation their club is in.

Ipswich are going to appoint Schteve 'the wally with the brolley' McLaren anyway.

In all seriousness, if Cowley is offered the job I expect him to take it. It's a no-brainer really, it's closer to home, a club two divisions above with a big fanbase and room to improve. Ticks all the boxes. He'd have to be ridiculously loyal to stay here.

In fact I get the feeling there's already a pre-agreement in place, similar to what we did with him when he was at Braintree.

"Our focus remains whole-heartedly here. We’re eternally thankful for the opportunity we’ve been given here.

“We’ve been shown great loyalty by the people of Lincoln. When we’re shown loyalty we always like to reciprocate.

“Our total focus is here. We’re at the business end of the season. We’ve worked very, very hard since the end of last season to put ourselves in this position.

“It would be crazy of us to think of anything else but Lincoln City and what we’re doing from now to hopefully the end of May.”

How about Paul Tisdale from Exeter, out of contract at the end of the season, has done a really good job there and previously with Team Bath. I'm amazed that he stayed in his current job for so long, felt sure he might be tempted to move elsewhere, about time he was given the chance to show how good he really is by managing a bigger team.

Notts County, Grimsby, Barnsley, Hartlepool, Southend, Forest, Norwich and now Ipswich.

Never has a Lincoln manager been linked with so many in so little time.

Ipswich is the sort of job I could see Jones leaving us for to be honest. Think he will be targeting a lower mid table Championship side who maybe want to try and go for someone a bit different/improve there style of football.

I remember he remained very professional and said similar things at Braintree when we were agreeing a deal with him (in fact he was at a services on the A1 I think, discussing terms with our directors). I wouldn't expect him to be anything other than professional, even if he is in discussion with Ipswich.

So you're saying he is a 'professional' bullshitter then?

In fact given the size of his schnozz I'd say he is definitely lying again.

Us bottom feeders are mere stepping stones for managers and players alike. It’s getting rid of the shite ones that’s the problem.

Spot on Indian, the bigger clubs will always come calling when somebody's doing a decent job in the ,lower leagues. Also, and tbf to the Lincoln fans, they've all accepted that it's only a matter of time before the Cowleys move on. What really irks the fans though is when managers doing a good job move to smaller or similar sized clubs, like when Cook left Pompey to join Wigan. I'm aware that Wigan are bankrolled heavily but otoh Pompey are a much bigger club.

This job becoming available was the one I was most worried about. It ticks all the boxes. I expect (hope) the board have a plan of who will be the successor should we need it.

Thommo is dusting down his tracksuit as we speak. He’s just going to cut and paste his job application from his 15 previous ones.

From memory last season, didn't he say most of his family are Ipswich fans?

Ipswich is a weird one though because they just seem to perform at 'par' most seasons. They're not particularly heavily bankrolled I don't think and I can't imagine it'd be possible to be to the point that they can have a decent tilt at promotion even taking in account DC's knack of getting the best out of, and improving, players.

From a footballing point of view, and I'm not comparing us to Ipswich, I see more room for improvement and progress here than I do there and that seems to be what he bases everything on.

So you're saying he is a 'professional' bullshitter then?
Everyone at Club(s) was aware it was happening but he had a notice period to work at his school. When his job was being advertised 6 weeks before the season ended, there was a clue there he was off.

Given Braintree's position, he was hardly going to come out and say anything.

Don't think we've got anything to worry about. He's got EVERYTHING a football manager wants here. Stable board, full backing in transfer markets, investment, new training ground being built at his request, sold out home matches, key to the City virtually.

I think he'll take us as far as he can before moving on. Time's on his side he shouldn't be in any rush to jump ship to a Champ club yet. It will happen but he wants to finish this journey.

He'll only have to look at what Shrewsbury are doing this season to know he could crack League 1 with us. We could do a Burton/Yeovil/Scunny. I honestly think he'll get us to the Champ have a year with us there then move on.

You need to get out of this division before getting out of League One.

I’ve been away from here for a bit but I’ve been posting a bit more lately and I’ve discovered that Lincoln fans are a right weird lot.

Oh I thought if you reach 80 points before May you jump straight to the Championship.

I'll take weird if normal is mooching about the site going by the name of 'Dave-Vale'. How many plain hamburgers and still fantas have you ordered in your exhilarating life?

Understandable that you're depressed about football at the moment giving Vale's position but believe it or not there are clubs out there beyond the kingdom of Stoke-on-Trent that will gain promotion this season...and some that will next season...and yes some that will the season after.
Now it definitely won't be Vale Dave-Vale because your club is a car crash but it could well be us as we're doing everything right off the pitch to give us every chance on it.

Glad to have you back posting anyway Dave-Vale, your insight has been missed.

It hilarious how desperate some people are for us to lose our managers. Sad.

Wow. Wasn’t that hilarious?

The best part is that Vale have been in a higher division than you lot for the vast majority of the last 50 years. You’ve always been a basement division side with a lengthy spell in non league. The reason I’d never come across your fans on here before is simply because you were always a division or 2 below us.

You’ve had a few seasons where you do alright (although you could still miss out on the play offs) and all of a sudden Lincoln City are the greatest footballing side to ever grace League Two, with the best fans and the best structure off the field; your manager would never dream of leaving you for a much bigger club who would probably pay him 4x more than you are. There is zero loyalty in football and if Ipswich want him then I imagine he will go but I can’t even see why they’d want him at the moment as he hasn’t really done anything of note other than winning the National League and a bit of an FA Cup run..

I’d always assumed he had some sort of affinity to you and had played for you for a few years or something but he hasn’t so I fail to see why he would have reason to show any sort of loyalty. He’s only managed you for a couple of years.

Lengthy spell in non-league? That'd be 7 in 130 odd years...

He's managed for 11 years, won 6 promotions, 6 cups (also lost 6 semi finals of cups and PO's), broken records at every club he's been at and has a win ratio of 55-60% over nearly 500 games...that's a hell of a couple of years.
