A number of Sutton fans are worried one or two of our younger players could be targeted in January.
Ben Goodliffe and David Ajiboye could be targets.

Wouldn’t surprise me if clubs are looking at Kane Wilson. Ebou Adams might attract interest too if he shines at the AFCON.

Realistically I would say there are two of our players that will be capturing interest from higher up and that’s Tom Conlon and James Gibbons. The latter we would be more likely to cash in on as he is out of contract this summer.

Wouldn’t want to lose either of them but we are all selling clubs at this level and if there is a deal that suits all parties would expect it to be made. At least now it will go back into the team.

Not worried that much, only Sterry and possibly Gav Holohan or Luke Molyneux might be on other club's radars.

Can't see any of them leaving yet but as we saw with Challinor you never know.

Rumours on Exeweb that Matt Jay might be off. Josh Key has been the subject of bids from Sunderland, if they up the ante he could go as well.
And Amond may well go back to Newport...

Apart from that, all fine..

Tom Conlon is the big worry, he's become an absolutely class player at this level and would easily fit in the league above but we made the decision to give him a 3 year contract in the summer so the hope is that keeps suitors away... if it doesn't we hold the cards for a big fee or could try and sit on it until the summer and still command decent money.

The bigger worry though is James Gibbons, he was out pretty much all of last season (Zak Mills nightmares come to mind!) but he has been unbelievable in recent months, even managed to add goals. He is a Right Back but been playing LWB and gone from strength to strength. He is probably on the level of FGR wing backs as the best in the division... he is out of contract in the summer and would be a massive loss for me.

The fact he is playing out of position and keeping a very established L2 Left back in Mal Benning out shows how good he has been.

Aside from that the other possible is Nathan Smith who is also out of contract. He has recovered from a wobble in form mid part of last season to be back on form this season and is hard a nails, happy to scrap big strikers and battle.

There was speculation that Wrexham were going to come back for Callum Guy, I only read ony article though, a week or two ago which suggested that. Wouldn't be surprised if Wrexham considered League Two to be beneath them and signed 8 or 9 players from League One in January since they aren't ten points clear at the top of the table.

Can't see the majority of our players being targeted by anyone, Jordan Gibson perhaps, he's done well but probably doesn't have the profile to attract clubs to pay money for him. Our main concern with the current squad is signing Mark Howard up to a longer spell.

I wouldn’t think Smith will be getting that much attention in January. This might sound a bit more disrespectful to him and his position than intended but centrebacks like him are ten a penny at this level. Add in he’s not got great size or technical ability I think he’ll be here for the duration. Don’t get me wrong he has been very good for us just doubt he will be on many others radars.

Not particularly, three of our better players this year are out of contract at the end of the season so hopefully they’ll be tied up. Both the manager and the assistant have both talked pretty positively about the business we want to do in January so again hopeful we’ll strengthen.

Sterry would the only one out of those I’d be bothered about losing, Molyneux blows hot and cold and Holohan is in his final year, 100k is a drop in ocean for Stockport/Wrexham in January.

Feel free to take anyone you want from our squad.

More worried that our chairman won't at least provide some money to help Hill strengthen, we cannot keep paying the wages we are and expect to stay in the FL.

As we've been well below par, not many of our players will be on bigger clubs' shopping lists - this transfer window has come too early for Robbie Gotts, but fully expect interest from a higher level in the summer unless he suffers a big injury or dramatic loss of form.

I'd be worried if Wrexham or someone like that come in for Ollie Banks, as defensive midfielders are in short supply and he's been arguably our best player this season.

Jack Payne is attracting interest from 2 or 3 L1 clubs. He has a free release clause in his contract - either January or the end of the season - probably what persuaded him to sign back on when he could have left last summer. All our signings were only allowed to sign a 12 month contract due to the conditions of taking the EFL loan.

The Man City game and getting up to £400,000 for Twine should see us pay off the EFL loan and, hopefully, offer extended contracts to some current players.

Garner will probably have some leeway to sign another 4 midfielders to add to the plethora of midfielders we already have.

Brough is the other one that Wrexham might look at - the way he set up our 2nd against Ipswich won't have helped us there...

I’m worried. Not so much about players leaving, there’s only one or two I’d be bothered about keeping. But really worried about us strengthening adequately. This is the worst team in the football league and January is critical for our hopes of survival. We must strengthen significantly to improve as we’ve already played our easiest games of the season on paper so the second half is going to be harder. Get January wrong and we’re down, simple as that.

Yes. Burnley, Everton and Man C are rumoured to be interested in our youngster and only bright spark Harry Vaughan. Only positive is it would be one step closer to paying off the loan and removing our embargo. While we’re under the embargo we have no hope. Can’t see how we’ll be able to strengthen but a centre forward is a must.

I understand that Callum Guy of Carlisle is on Nigel Clough’s radar.

In a word yes...the loss of Winchester and Kitching last season...coupled with the injury to Jamille Matt cost us any chance of automatic promotion and left us with the lottery of the play-offs. I think the squad is better this season so the loss of one, or maybe two, might not cost us as much...but it is definitely a worry, we don't need to have our squad cherry picked again. There is nothing to see here, go and look somewhere else!

In terms of departures not really. There have been some murmurings about Jay Spearing and Wrecsam, don't know if any weight to them. Sunderland may recall Josh Hawkes, who's been one of our brighter lights creatively, but nothing confirmed and that's always the risk with loan signings.

The big concern is whether we can bring (m)any in to compensate for a below par summer window. With no cup run, not even in the Pizza Cup, our pot is fairly empty and we may have to get by with those already on the books

Where are these murmurings coming from.

Mentioned on the Cowsheds Forum, possibly on the NL boards here too. As you know some of Jay’s family, any idea if there’s any truth in them?

Havent seen them this week but if i do i will ask. He coaches Liverpool U16s and we do not interfere in that because its what he wants in the future. He is happy with his situation.
Saying that if they are willing to pay the £250,000 we should ask for a 33 year old then i would rip the skin off their hands grabbing it.

Yes. We have much potentially to lose. I suppose the apparently still realistic hope of automatic promotion is one thing that might counteract any offers to several of our key players, most obviously Wilson and Cadden

Apparently Jay Spearing is valued at £540,000 by one site. £750,000 to Wrexham since they are rich.

I'm worried no clubs will be interested in any of our lot.

We have no loan players, so no worries about any recalls.

We will no doubt bring in a couple of last minute injury prone cast offs after our first 5 targets on the wanted list turn us down to sign for non league clubs splashing the cash

Our only worry is having our loan players recalled, Azzaz & cooper have been brilliant for us in the first half of the season, so we don't want a repeat of last season when Bradley Cooper and Scott Twine went back early and completely fecked up our season, there is also the chance that there will be interest in a fully fit and free scoring Dom Telford.
It looks like we will recall podge from Exeter as Rowberry wants to off load the likes of fisher, abrahams and greenidge all of who have not made the grade.

My main worry for January is that we will struggle to bring in the one or two additions we need to give us a realistic chance of promotion. Nombe is out for a couple more months at least and Amond will probably be recalled, so we will need 2 strikers next month.

I think clubs will be less likely to loan out younger players with the pandemic stretching squads to the limit, so I worry that we will limp our way through January without a recognised striker.

As for outgoings, I think the main concern is Josh Key leaving but at least, if that happens, we can move Caprice to the right side and bring back Jack Sparkes on the left. I think Matt Jay will stay till the end of the season personally and he’ll be sold in the summer if we stay in L2.

I think for any clubs (a majority of us you’d say) who are looking to be relying heavily on loaning U23’s from Premier or Championship clubs that is going to be a huge challenge. Saw an article in The Athletic about 3 or 4 days ago to that effect that Premier League clubs due to covid are not going to be willing to let them go out on loan in case they are suddenly caught short.

According to DC he has a couple of options once January comes round but these things can change very quickly. There is an outside chance Politic could get recalled by Bolton but I doubt that happens and I expect with Cass he won’t be recalled by Newcastle either.

Not really worried about January - think we’ll strengthen rather than sell players. I guess a desperate L1 side could come in for one of our strikers, but they’d be paying over the odds for a player who is out-performing his previous form by unsustainable amounts.

That is what I am hoping clubs will think when they look at Matty Stevens...normally he can't hit a cows backside with a banjo...his form this season is truly flukey, expecting him to run out of goals really soon.

(In truth, Rob Edwards has unlocked the true potential of Matty, his partnership with Jamille Matt is one of the most joyous things I can remember since I started following Rovers. In the past we have often had one decent striker, Doidge, Mangan and Fleetwood to mention just three, but never really two at the same time).
