Tough month, but that'll be us done with Luton, County and Mansfield by mid-January, which I don't think will be a bad thing.

Hoping to make Barnet away, which is a favourite of Imps fans.

I did have Grimsby down as a draw before today, so not off to a good start predictions wise. Hopefully these will fare a little better:

Carlisle(A) - Loss. They have a poor home record, but we specialise in making ordinary teams look like world beaters and I expect this one to be no different.

Wycombe(H) - Loss. We struggle against Wycombe due to their physical style but do have a good record against them at Gresty Road. But we're shit against reasonable-good teams this season, so chalk this one up as a loss.

Swindon(A) - Loss. Most teams are going to Swindon and winning, but our record there is abysmal. I mean really abysmal. We get humped every time we visit. This will be no different. Comfy home win.

Maybe I should be more optimistic after a solid win today, but away from home against anyone that isn't terrible, we struggle. And Wycombe always give us a tough game regardless of where we play them. 3 defeats puts us right back in the shit, so need some points here. Couple of draws would do nicely.

For us:

Mon 1st - Colchester (a) drew 0-0
Sat 13th - Mansfield (h)
Sat 20th - Forest Green (a)
Sat 27th - Notts County (h)
Tue 30th - Coventry (a)

After today’s decent point, we need to beat Mansfield and Forest Green as I don’t fancy us to get anything out of the final two games of the month. I suspect we’ll lose to Mansfield as Evans’s teams often do us, beat Forest Green and lose the other two. So, four points would be my guess and way out of the play off race again. And Derry will still be in his job.

Lincoln (h) reckon we'll win 4-2 in a stormy match with two sendings off :gr:
Newcasle (a) A jolly for 7k away fans. A drink or two, sing for 90 minutes and applaud the team off after a respectable performance losing narrowly to the PL giants.
Chesterfield (a) Should win as Chesterfield are struggling. To beat us you need to score and Chesterfield it seems can't. A comfortable win on the cards hopefully.
Morcambe (h) Another comfortable win. Been a while since we got 7. This could be one of those days. Also a chance to rest a couple of players.
Grimsby (a) Blimey are we playing them again already. Didn't think they looked that bad at ours on 23rd Dec. Recents results suggest they have lost some confidence. Will be tougher than the previous two but we should get a narrow win if the form of both clubs continues. Again Grimsby are a team that can't seem to find the net on a regular basis.
Wycombe (h) Toughest league game of the month. Felt they caused us problems away and we always have difficulty coping with the Beast. Hoping his legs go on the winter surface. Should win being we are at home.

15/15 - seems far too optimistic. We might draw at Grimsby then as they will raise their game.

Looks a lot easier on paper than December, so we should be looking to climb into the top half this month.

Vale H - Very hard fought win in the bag.
Brentford A - Probably lose, but to be honest i'm really looking forward to a day on the beers in London with absolutely no pressure on the result at all.
Lincoln City A - This won't be as relaxing, i'd imagine. Be a full house at Sincil Bank, great atmosphere, probably an intense game but not one for the purists. We'll get a draw.
Exeter City H - Tisdale's Exeter usually do well at Meadow Lane, draw.
Crawley Town H - Should be a routine home win, kind we've been reeling off all season.
Cambridge United A - Lose. No real logic behind that, but yeah.

Would be content with that I think, avoiding defeat against both Lincoln and Exeter is important. If we can keep that gap to fourth place at 6+ points then i'll be very happy.

After a bang average December, we need to pick up in January, but we won’t, because we’re shit and under Curle we get worse after new year.

Mansfield (A) - LOSE
Sheff Wed (H) FA Cup - LOSE
Crewe (H) - LOSE
Stevenage (A) - LOSE
Forest Green (H) - WIN

So I’m expecting 3 points which is absolutely shite but should still keep us away from trouble.

Carlisle home - won
Cardiff away - Meh. What a poor draw
Cambridge away - draw
Cheltenham home - win
Lincoln home - draw
Morecambe away - win.

Ideally need a minimum of 9 points from those games to keep in and around where we are ATM. I've a feeling we'll lose to one of Cambridge away of Lincoln at home

Late to this so obvs no point "predicting" yesterday's game v FGR.

6th - Preston (H) - FA Cup - LOSE
13th - C*l U (H) - L2 - DRAW
20th - Crewe A (A) - L2 - DRAW
27th - Coventry (H) - L2 - DRAW
30th - Lu'un (A) - L2 - LOSE

Well that looks shit. I've been fairly pessimistic there for sure, but defensively we are down to the bare bones - we had our 4th choice right back playing yesterday (who unsurprisingly isn't a right back at all) and both of our first choice centre backs are injured. And our defence wasn't that great to begin with, having more pressure heaped upon it by the 4-3-3 and the lack of protection from the midfield.

So that's why I'm not that optimistic. Plus we tend to do shit v the top half teams, of which we have several, and generally just do shit v Crewe. Down to 8th by the end of the month.

That said if I'm talking bollocks and we've spirited at least 2 wins out of these, I'll be more comfortable that we may be looking good for a play-off spot come season's end. After all we all know how woefully inconsistent, oops I mean delightfully stuffed with surprises, this league can be.

Jan 1 - Port Vale (h) - Won

Jan 13 - Lincoln (a) - Draw. Fancy us to get a point against a Raggett and Anderson-less Lincoln, will either be a classic or awful

Jan 20 - Exeter (h) - Win. Exeter's away form is pretty bad lately, with defeats at ColU, Yeovil and Newport. No reason we can't win, especially if Moore-Taylor has gone by then.

Jan 23 - Crawley (h) - Win. Don't expect this to be as easy as it might seem on paper looking at the table, but got to be looking for 3 points.

Jan 27 - Cambridge (a, if not still in FA Cup) - Lose. Derry (if still there) has something of a hoodoo sign over us.

So that would be 7 from the remaining 4 in Jan (10 from 5 overall) which would give us 57 points from 30 games. If you say 85 generally guarantees automatic (although this year I suspect it will be lower), that would leave us needing 28 points from our remaining 16 games to get over the line.

Ours is a very tough month on paper.

West Brom home in the cup. We will probably lose but think it will be close. They will rest a few plus our pitch should level things a bit. 2-1 defeat

Coventry home. A big game as we need to prove that we can take points off our rivals. Should be a decent crowd and I think we may nick it. 2-1 win.

Notts County away. Very tough game and as our away form is so poor I just can’t see anything other than a loss for us. County are doing really well and will win this. 3-1 defeat.

Yeovil home. Another big game, which we need to win and think we will. 2-0 win.

I’d be content with the results above which should see us still in the play offs with a game in hand. February starts with a trip to Luton which is nice and easy!

Only two more games for us with the Mansfield game being postponed because of our Checkatrade game and Newport because of the FA Cup.

Mansfield now the beginning of April.

Not a great month, really. Not a disaster but we should have held on against Notts and needed to be beating Barnet although we gave ourselves an uphill task in that one with a first half no-show.

Beat Vale and as I expected a 2-2 v Lincoln
Then two straight home defeats against sides I’d hope to beat. That said both of those were us playing 4-5-1
Predicted 10 points only got 4

But wins against Brentford and taking Swansea to a replay in the FAC

Performance wise it was probably our worst month of the season - but we still got 9 out of 15.

That's not bad. I think the two cup exits sort've made it seem worse than it was.
