Don't think it should be Morris. He was absolutely class until about January and has been one of our worst players since then. We do admittedly owe a lot to his performances as he won us a lot of points earlier in the season but recently he's been very poor.

Don't know about Fleck as I don't see him play week in week out so I don't know how good of a CM he is. Sharp's goal tally speaks for itself and he should really win it imo.

Goals win you games and they get you promoted.

Sharp has scored a lot of goals, Sheff Utd have won a lot of games and are getting promoted.

Easy choice for me.

Strange isn't it how a player can be doing so well for the first 25 games scoring lots of goals, to then become one of the poorest performers. What's changed?

Sharp was a different level for the type of player he is, compared to anyone else I saw at the Kassam this year. I'll be interested to see what he does next season.

I saw Ryan Ledson was the L1 representative in the EFL young player of the year awards. Clearly streets ahead of other young players in this division so presume they won't bother with any sort of formal award.

Pity defenders don't get recognition, David Wheater, part of a defence with the best defensive record and 7 league goals this season

Billy Sharp, easy enough decision although I'm surprised Wheater isn't in there as well. A goal scoring centre back is a massive boost to a team, especially considering how good Bolton's defence has been this season. Although I wouldn't expect anything else from a Parkinson team, it's no coincidence that his teams are always there or there about with the best defence in the league.

James Vaughan should have at least been in top 3. 20 plus goals in a struggling side. Ripleys displays for Oldham will probably keep them up. Vaughan in Sheffield Utds team wold have scored close to 40. Far better player than Sharp.

All the more credit to Wilder then, for having Sheff Utd piss this tinpot league whilst all the best players are at the shit teams in Lancashire.

Bit non-sensical to say the Sheff Utd players are overrated because they play at Sheff Utd where the good players are.

Dack won this last year with most or less the same season as Morris has had this time around. Difference is last year there was no real competition.

Sharp for me.

A bit like Northampton in League 2 last season.

Did well for Doncaster in the Championship but that was a while back, I think you're right and he's a player you might have to upgrade.

Imagine he will be given a fair crack but you don't want to do a Wigan and get lumbered with him as your main man like they did with Grigg.

Yep that's my worry. He might prove me wrong I hope he does but he's had plenty of chances at that level and not done it so it's not looking likely. Our midfield is up to the championship I think and probably our full backs but that's it imo.

Coutts is decent enough at that level, not very consistent but can do a job alongside someone physical.

I always thought Coutts would be top end Championship when he was here and young. Never quite fulfilled the potential he had. Whatever reasoning behind that is, but he was such a talent 9 years a go.

Good technical ability but not aggressive or physical enough to be classed as a defensive midfielder and doesn't score or create enough to be classed as an attacking midfielder. Think he needs the right players alongside him to do a job in the Championship or he gets found out a bit.

My vote would be for John Fleck.

A really good all round midfielder who will be comfortably good enough at Championship level. He has everything, great passer, great control and good in the tackle. He's a proper footballer and the only thing he lacks is scoring goals but if he had that he'd be worth many millions.

Sharp is a bit different. He lacks pace, has no height or physicality and doesn't have a trick to score a goal from nothing.

However Sharp brings great finishing and goal poaching to the table BUT he needs the ball played to his feet to set him up.

In the right team Sharp is a great asset, in the wrong team he would struggle. So regards Sharp doing well in the Championship the jury is out, he may do well or he may struggle, depends on his team mates.

It's easy to just look at goals scored and assists to decide who the best players are. However, as some people have alluded to, Sharp is one of those that has to have the right service and right players surrounding him for him to flourish. My personal choices for the award would be the likes of Ripley at Oldham, Vaughan at Bury, Fleck at Sheffield United, Vincelot at Bradford, Bolger at Fleetwood, Leonard at Southend and even our very own Nathan Smith at Vale. Some may look at those suggestions and laugh. Some may see my outside-the-box thinking and see the attributes those players possess and what they have contributed to their respective teams. Some of them have gone extremely under the radar. I'm sure some supporters of those teams represented by those individuals would give a positive outlook on them, or I'd at least hope so.

It's easy to stand out in the bigger and more successful sides, but it does help having a much higher calibre of players around you. It's those players in mid-table or relegation-threatened sides who still consistently play out of their skins but don't get the recognition they deserve due to where they play their football. Who's honestly going to be asked the question of 'League One's best players' and automatically start reeling off names from squads in the bottom six? The likes of Wheater SHOULD be head and shoulders above the rest of the players in this league as it's stupid how he's even in this division to start with. Yes, that shouldn't mean he shouldn't be applauded as he still has to go out there and perform, but it's almost like congratulating Sergio Aguero for scoring 20 goals a season for Manchester City. It's not really a massive achievement in itself, is it? As opposed to say Jermain Defoe scoring 15 for a Sunderland side who spend the vast majority of the season in the bottom 4 or 5.

I'm disappointed Nathan Smith hasn't had a shout for young player of the year, he's been outstanding in a really poor side in the main. His first season in the football league and played every game for us I think scoring 5 or 6 from centre half and keeping us in with a shout in games.

I was bricking it on his debut against Hanson but pretty much back pocketed him all game which shows his maturity.

If we go down we should either get big money for him, or have easily a stand out player in league two... best youth prospect for us since Anthony Gardner in 2000 and the one positive from this dreadful disaster of a season.

To sum him up... we were diabolical against Coventry last week... no one, even the usual reliables like Foley put in anything close to a performance... apart from Smith who won everything as we threatened to get battered... then scored to keep us in with a chance.

I guess being up against Ryan Ledson didn't help Nathan Smith. Ryan Ledson has been outstanding this season and has to be one of the 1st names on the team sheet for us. Tenacious in defence but has the class to make a killer pass. It also shows in his continued selection for England u20s where he has been involved in a warm up tournament (for the World u20 World Cup this summer) for the last 10 days or so.

Sharp got Sheff Utd a point at ours, scored an outrageous header that most would have put wide and then quick thinking got him a second.

Our player of the year will be Cullen or Vincelot. I think Cullen gets over-rated at ours but he's still far too good for this league and I can see him being a regular for West Ham with the right development. Can do everything but shoot.

Both will go on to have very good careers I reckon which is good for both clubs financially!
