Thought about doing something similar in the past but decided to finally give it a go this year. With the boom in popularity of fantasy football over the years its time L2 got some love in a similar way. The reason for doing 6 a side is I am only one man and its gonna take long enough as it is to calculate the points, but should be a laugh. All points scoring scenario's will be laid out below.
Rules:
Select 6 players in your team who will score points based on appearances, goals, assists and clean sheets. Yellow cards will receive a -2 and red cards a -5.
You may only select ONE player from any League 2 side.
You may only select one player from a team beginning with the same name. This is to try and vary the teams a bit. So only one player from Salford, Stevenage, Stockport, Sutton and Swindon etc.
Your 6 players must consist of the following. 1 GK, 2 DEF, then 3 of any position of your choice. Please do your best to use your discretion on who plays where, dont take the mick though sticking Danny Hylton at full back because he puts a shift in for example.
If a player you have marked down as a DEF continually gets played further forward as say a winger and not a wing back then you may be asked to change that player.
Players MUST partake of at least 60 mins of a game to be eligible for points. No super subs coming on for 3 mins and getting clean sheet points. Also if a team concedes after a defender goes off after say 65 mins he does NOT get his clean sheet points. This is to make it easier for me to work out.
Points scoring: GK's will score 5 points for a clean sheet. If they make more than 5 saves they will receive a bonus point for each additional save. So 8 saves and a clean sheet would make 8 points.
Defenders: Defenders will also score 5 points for a clean sheet. They will score 6 points for a goal and 3 points for an assist.
All other players will receive 4 points for a goal and 4 points for an assist, the same points are awarded for goals and assists to avoid everyone picking central strikers only. No clean sheet bonus for these players will be awarded.
You may also select a Captain each week who will score double points. The same captain may NOT be used 2 games in a row. If you forget to adjust your captain then I will do so for you by simply applying it to the player below whoever is on your list.
CHANGING PLAYERS:
You may change one player in your squad per calendar month. So if your keeper gets dropped, injured etc thats unfortunate, hope his backup has a mare next game. Points will be tallied a few days after each set of games. However, as the transfer window is open after the season starts in the last week of August you will be allowed unlimited changes to your team, THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE IN THE LAST WEEK OF AUGUST.
At any point in the calendar month you can make your one transfer. Again, just post on the thread who you want to add in and take out.
POINTS REFERENCE:
The stats are taken from Wyscout which is a massive database for all leagues, it normally takes a day or two after the games to update fully. The stats for minutes, assists etc will come from there so any disagreement with who got an assist etc, take it up with them .
ENTRANCE CUT OFF:
The cut off for entrance is the end of Friday 29th July.
SENDING YOUR TEAMS:
When you jot down your teams on here please just reference which players are in which category (if its a midfielder / forward just put MF), play for which team to ensure you havnt picked two from the side side.
For Example (not my actual team)
Burge, GK, Northampton
Horsfall, DEF, Stockport,
O'Toole, DEF, Mansfield
McKirdy, MF, Swindon (Week 1 Captain)
M Smith, MF, Salford
Telford, MF, Crawley
I think that is everything needed.... I am sure I have inevitably forgotten something. Any questions, please put them in here. Happy to make amendments to the rules to make it easier if needed also.
If you want to get involved just sent post your team on the thread. If you want to amend your team then please post another message, otherwise I will get confused with all the edited posts.
