Feel like I should start doing individual match threads again. Can't be on with appeasing Grimsby fans.

Chris Beech's first league game is a very important one to win while Morecambe also have a new manager. We should have it in us to beat morecambe and defeat would be very bad news indeed.

Unsure of how well set up as our formation at FGR seemed slightly experimental. Hayden might have done well enough to stay in contention while Branthwaite might get his first start under beech having recovered from illness. Beech may have now had time to look at other players and the likes of Sagaf, Hope and Sorensen may have come into his plans. Thomas may also continue in the left sided role he performed at fgr

We have a couple of injury doubts but beech won't say who.

Another interesting starting line up as Beech looks to work out how best side.

Collin
G. Jones, Hayden, Webster, Mellish
Branthwaite, M. Jones, Scougall
Thomas, Loft, Hope

I'm just kind of going off what the commentary team think, otherwise I might have thought Gethin Jones would be in midfield with Hayden and Branthwaite in right and centre back one way or the other.

Assumed Hope had left you! Has he been injured?

No just off form. He was injured for the first couple of weeks of the season and since then each time he's come into the team he's failed to really stake a claim but has been on the bench a lot and made plenty of late appearances in games . Still yet to score a league goal and only picked up his first assist of the season in the FA Cup last weekend. He has now started both games under beech so we'll see how that goes.

Good player and could make the difference. You’ll win today.

Hope so, if you'll excuse the pun. We've probably got by far the better players but so many things just not clicked this season. Don't see anyone in their line up of the quality of a hope or a mike Jones or a Thomas. With a new manager fingers crossed those things can be made to click.

Awful match between two awful teams with the only action of note, based on my listening of the radio, being a bit of sublime skill from Nathan Thomas and a few moments later a sublimely dreadful error from Byron Webster.

Usually we turn up at morecambe away, never Morecambe at home but Morecambe away always... until today.

diabolical from start to finish. Morecambe weren’t good either but better than us.

mark my words, we will finish bottom. Whether we actually get relegated is another question with Macclesfields situation, but this team will finish bottom. It is terrible, especially in defence and midfield. The attack will get us goals now and then, but not enough to cover the problems at the other end.

why oh why did we not get rid of pressley in the summer when we didn’t have to pay him off? What a costly error in more ways than one.

"Lakes Derby"? OK, I suppose the odd Wainwright is visible from both locations, but neither are "lakeside". However if your Derby takes it's name after what's between you, then I look forward to the Yorkshire derby between Dale and Chesterfield... :)

Big question is whether Beech now decides he's seen enough from Webster. Not sure how he's getting the nod ahead of NKP who hasn't been amazing but much less error-prone.

I want all 3 of Morecambe, Carlisle and Barrow in League Two next season, got very good friends in Lancaster so any excuse to get up that way and see them is a plus.
Stevenage can fuck off back to where they belong.
