Latics vs Colchester

As I rightfully suspected, we have an absolutely horrific home record against Colchester. I also happen to think this will be our toughest test of the season so far as they seemingly score goals at will. We've been OK defensively, but mainly on the road.

I would be absolutely delighted with a scrappy 1-0, but I wouldn't be too disappointed with a draw either.

I don't understand people looking at historical games. It's highly likely none of the 22 players on the field will have played in this fixture before, and all history does is put fear into you. You saying you would take a draw now before a ball has been kicked is madness given they are only a point above us.

Much rather gamble for the win and take a loss rather than take a point before a ball is kicked.

It's not my job to gamble - if Bunn goes for it I'm a happy man.

But if we did draw, I wouldn't be too disappointed. They've scored 5 more than us already, conceded less and likely had a tougher start (though not by much).

Their goal came from a mistake by Lang for the corner (admittedly the set piece was decent) but I fear this will be a result we might look back on in May and say what if.
Doing everything right it's just not happening.

Stupid mistakes cost us there. Better team throughout but we handed them 3 goals. 2 needless corners and a lost game of head tennis. Never gunna neat them in the air.
Showed spirit though but we need to improve our home form.

Never a red. Going away from goal with defenders behind him so yellow was correct.

More than deserved to come back to 3-3 then, just dreadful defending that’s lost us that.

Agree with you over the goalkeeper getting a yellow and not a red silly mistakes by us in a game that we win easily on another day but gotta say Colchester the best team. We have played so far Norris was a handful all game they have more about them than both Newport and MK Dons

If I was wrong with the red I'll hold my hands up. I was viewing from the main stand upper though Rocky road end so I was a bit far away.

Disagree with saying colchester the best team though. If we had anything about us in defence they don't score. Simple really.

Mk for a start. At least tried to create. Colchester offered nothing other than the mistakes we handed to them although he did take that second goal well.
This is a very poor league and we are clearly the only team trying to play football from what I have seen. A good footballing team has a solid foundation at the back but we don't keep enough clean sheets

Need to sort out the defence we are not prolific enough to give teams goals every game

Because we press a lot, we'll force just about every team to play direct, they'll find it difficult to play through us with our high energy.

Stupid that today, fun to get those late goals though. Super Sammy Surridge, 7 goals in 7 games, what a lad.

I say it every week but we play great football at home and just try to rough it up away. Will be a different team in the reverse game.
