We had a decent little run in the cup last season, despite getting spanked by Spurs at WHL in the end. Would like a similar sort of trip this year, so would like any of the League One 'seeds' to give us a fighting chance of a big club in round two. Either that, or Villa away.

I feel really old when talking about this competition. Five years this September since we last won a League Cup match, and I was there at Upton Park when Roberto's reserves gave Big Sam's West Ham a footballing lesson. We thought we were off to Wembley only for League Two Bradford to beat us on penalties the round after and get there themselves. The halcyon days! Anyway, Blackpool or Crewe away please.

Someone local that isn't in league one. Preston, Leeds or Sheffield would be good.

We're seeded this time, so we'll probably play forest green and lose, but I'd be quite happy to blag our way through the first round a go out in a blaze of glory to a prem team like last year.

We rarely have a run in the cup so Sunderland would be good but expect to get Leeds again.

We've got Reading away. We'll get beaten, but I've not ticked the Mad Stad off yet so I'll probably end up going.

The draw was genuinely painful to watch. Good old Shaun Harvey.

Exactly the same fixture as last year. Feel sorry for Notts County having to come here again.

Bradford away uninspiring for both sets of fans but at least Bradford can look forward to round 2.

We definitely got the worst possible tie - Newport away but it is now Newport at home as they cannot play on their pitch till September. We might actually make round 2 for the first time since 2010

Very likely.

General reaction at our end is underwhelmed.

My ideal would be a double header after an opening weekend at somewhere like Newport or Exeter, even Forest Green, Yeovil or Cheltenham, combined with some birding, cider and photography on the Somerset Levels. Look at them lining us up for Carlisle, Accrington or Morecambe away when the fixtures come out next week.

Is it likely to be Weds rather than Tues, with your uppity neighbours at home to Argyle?

More than likely be the Wednesday. You'll have to come and have a pint beforehand. I can't blame you lot for being a bit underwhelmed.

Sounds like an idea. I forgot that I can cross off a Newport/Brizzle double header in August. Plan B if I'm not stopping over will be to duck driving duties.

What? Are you mad? It's not that I don't like visiting your lovely city or anything like that, but there's every chance I'll end getting a 5 year banning order after I see that little runt playing for you lot, and let him know exactly what I think of his decision to bad mouth us. Unforgivable act.

Judas.

Bristol City home or away please :bg1:
Good draw PG, we haven't played you for a long time. You get the other end of the Gate nowadays (the Atyeo) as the rest has been rebuilt. I think you can have the whole stand if you want it (4,300).
No doubt you'll bring a fair few up for this 'local' :eye: game? I hope it's not on the tele as there could be a half decent crowd for this one given it's the first round of the cup.

NO, just NO!
We're about 20 years ahead of our quota for playing each other Sludge aren't we? :ffs:

A sultry morning spent walking past the steelworks. An early afternoon perusal of the multicultural and multilingual town centre. A late afternoon walk through the gardens to the Berkeley Hotel. Some of the cheapest booze they can find anywhere and then a hop, skip and jump to Glanford Park. Two hours of sheltered seating, a foot long Lincolnshire hot dog, more booze and then a short ride home. Nothing to feel sorry about. They'll be looking to forward to it.:cool1:

Yeah I'm looking forward to returning..a few seasons early as well! The stadium looks brilliant from the pictures I've seen post development. Think I was one of the few who enjoyed the old away end though with the backless seats, it was a unique characteristic!

I think we could bring up to 1500 depending where our first league fixture is on the Saturday as it may be the first opportunity to see our new signings in real action for a lot of non Plymouth based supporters such as the London branch.

Funnily enough this could end up being our most 'local' game this season joint with the gas.

We're away at Forest Green. Personally looking forward to that as it's a new ground for me.

Forest Green v MK Dons - a fixture reflecting the true spirit of football.
