What's the point?

4-0 Lincoln.

4 thousand new cabbage cutters realise football can be fun.
4 thousand old Spireites can't even be arsed to want Allen out never mind do anything pro-active in removing the twat.

Bugger, I must have been away when my ST price was quoted. Am sure there was a small increase in price from last season.

Yeah me too mate! Yep they definitely went up in price around £20 I think, not that it put people off clearly!
Mine was a bit cheaper at around £280 but that cos we're in the family area but they were around £300-320 must be flipping dear in Chesterfield if that's considered cheap!
Anyways on to the match hoping we get an goal and 3 points but think Chesterfield will trying v hard new boss and all.

This is the most pitiful semi-derby thread I have ever seen.

I'm reasonably confident that we'll score a goal.

You should look in at the biting comments and savagery on the Cheltenham v Swindon thread - truly frightening.

We did our classic thing of letting a team back into the game in the second half, clear penalty. Was expecting the last 10 mins to be played in our half but Chesterfield were pretty flat.

Overheard some Spirites on the way out of the ground claiming that O'Grady (who had a shot almost go out for a throw in the first half) is on £6,000 per week????

So, so comfortable. One of those games where you're in control that much without really putting a shift in that you become slightly complacent. Chesterfield had the mini or all mini spells at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second but we saw that through with ease.

First goal was a shot from the edge of the box, which took a deflection and wrong footed Anyon. Second was an own goal after good work from Anderson down the left. It was either going to be an OG to a JMD tap-in, so the defender had to do something. Also hit the bar and two cleared off the line.

Penalty was a clear one, but came from us being caught in a two on one, which hadn't happened up to that point.

I was expecting them to have a bit of a go at us after the penalty but despite giving them the ball back every time we won it back, it didn't happen. They just continued to play pretty, short and sideways.

Chesterfield were very pretty, but very ineffective. Passed the ball quite well albeit not with any real urgency, had no final ball and didn't create anything either. They had a good free-kick at the end of the first half, but that was it. Their game was summed up by O'Grady having a shot from the centre of the goal from 20 yards and was about 20cm away from being our throw-in.

Cowley thought the ref had a good game, but bloody hell he was whistle happy. No clangers, but he seemed to forget the game is a contact sport.

As for us, still alarmingly clear we need another forward option. We can't wait until January to sort that out. We need another body on a short term deal for two or three months.

Spot on as ever Luke.
On the ref it was like he felt sorry for them after they went 2 down and everytime we went for the ball it was free kick, Eardley got booked for winning it!
O'Grady however!!! How much a week for that???

Sure they'll be back mate!
We look a very decent side just lacking a goalscorer, as it just land for Green at the mo, everything gets stuck under his feet or between his legs or just runs away from him at the vital moment. Played well imo.

I thought we started really strong and bright today. We bossed middle of the park and Chesterfield had no answer for us down the wings. Only thing missing was actual chances on goal. Thankfully Chesterfield helped with that scoring 2. Rest of the first half (bar a Chesterfield free kick which was well saved by Vickers) was very comfortable.

Wondered whether 2nd half would be similar to the Barnet game, we sit back and let them attack. However Chesterfield offered very little. Even when they scored with the penalty, the final 10 or so minutes, normally I would be a nervous wreck hoping, praying we'd hang on, but none of that today.

We had much the better of the second half also, Anderson a constant thorn in Chesterfields side. Wouldn't have looked out of place if we had managed a 3rd of 4th.

Fair play to the Chesterfield fans today - good numbers and good noise for some of the game considering. I thought we were a bit quieter than normal.

Hope Lester can sort you out, as on that showing you play good football but very lightweight up front. O'Grady offered nothing.

Pleasantly surprised by our start in the league, we are holding our own, creating chances but as we all know, very lightweight up front.

Did we score own goals today then?

Genuinely had no idea.

Our first took a deflection but was going in anyway, the second your player fired home under pressure.

Having seen the highlights we can reasonably claim to have scored both your goals for you. As if we aren’t struggling enough. Sounded poor again, Lester isn’t a miracle worker he’s got jobs on unfortunately. I’d take 22nd now.

Good numbers too considering the crap we are going through, didn’t think we’d have anywhere near 4 figures

I don't ever recall using that phrase myself, however I had you down for a 10th to 18th finish which I'm sticking with.

Have to admit, I thought you were on course for a bit of a cricket score yesterday when you were 2-0 up relatively early on.

I don't remember individuals but there was a group of opinionated Mansfield fans, which probably included AdamStag, who thought we'd be in for a struggle at the wrong end of the table. Mainly because they wrongly thought we relied too heavily on the likes of Farman, Waterfall, Arnold and Rhead (who were all on the bench yesterday) and completely ignoring the likes of Raggett, Habergham and Woodyard who were all far more influential last season.

We still can't finish so a cricket score was always going to be unlikely.

Has there been any rumours about who you're going to be in for striker-wise in January?

Nope, nothing at all really. Obviously there's the chance we'll go back in for Akinola after the deadline day fiasco but he's been starting for Barnet recently what with Akinde being out injured.

I'm surprised we haven't brought in a free agent on a short-term deal but Cowley seems pretty adamant we won't bring anyone in unless they can go straight into our starting line-up. I get the logic but we could still do with another option off the bench. We looked quite creative for half an hour at County with Billy Knott behind Matt Green before the former inexplicably got himself sent off. Now he's back from suspension that's always another option.
