Big game for us after Tuesday's bizarre night with all results going against us... play like we did most of the game despite losing 4-0 and we will probably win more than we'd lose!

A once in a decade game but we still lost 4-0 so hopefully we still have a reaction. Kay back is a boost... Tyrone Barnett is back so adds some competition up front.

We've been better away from home and fancy us to pick up a result of some sort here... 1-1 maybe a sneaky 2-1 with the Pontiff scoring a brace.

Always had a decent record at Sincil Bank... recall David Howland scoring a stunning winner (30-40 yarder) on one visit, the LDV Final North Win in 2001 and a chilly December night when Dodds and Rico scored either side of Chris Martin palming a throw in into his own net that had he left to just go in wouldn't have counted!

A nice memory for many Vale fans of facing Lincoln would be the home game a few seasons back when we won 4-0, it was 2-0 inside 3 minutes, we missed a penalty on 6 minutes and went 3-0 up 15 minutes in.

It's amazing how a particularly poor game and a half of football can swing the mood of a fan base. At HT last Saturday, we were 5th and everything was going swimmingly...

To be fair, we've not been playing well for a while but still picking up points, however, in the last game and half we've dipped way below what you'd consider an 'ok' performance. When we have played well it's generally been for one half particularly recently (second half at Crewe, first half against Coventry).

Unusually for DC he abandoned his 'not too high, not too low' outlook in his post match interview on Tuesday night and was quite to the point.

No new injuries and with the news Bostwick's hamstring injury is only a strain, and with next weekend off due to the FA Cup, I reckon we'll be tempted to risk him in this one.

We've come up against Aspin sides a lot over the last 6 years (maybe 10+ times), so if he's anything like he has been then Vale will be very direct into Pope.

We will be fairly direct (mainly as Whitfield is out still) but it works with Pope's quality in the air... in fact reading Popey's article him and Rhead used to play against each other in the Sunday League when younger.

Everyone used to beat us back in the day! That's why we got relegated! 11 lads out of the crowd would have beaten our lot in the last 2 months of the 2010/11 season!
Last chance saloon potentially for some of our squad if the manager's words are to be believed after the no show at Colchester.
Expecting you lads to do what pretty much everyone else has this season sit in try and catch us on the break and go down like a sniper got you when challenged!
Probably our best home performance in the league last season was against Aspin's Gateshead when we won 3-0 and the most unlikely win of the season was at Gateshead on Easter Monday when we got 2 goals at the death to win 2-1 when it looked like we weren't going to get anything.

We will sit in as we do that anyway, imagine we will go back to the success we had with the 4-2-3-1 system with Kay and Pugh in front of the back four and three in behind Pope, likely Harness, Worrall and possibly Montano for Forrester.

We don’t tend to go down too easily, Pope has blasted Mansfield for it in his article today, tbh Pope never gets a decision anyway as even when he’s being fouled it’s usually given the other way!

Looking forward to this, although trains from Nottingham are all cocked up so got to go via Sheffield.
Think we may get a point in a 1-1 draw.
Remarkably the bookies have Lincoln at 13/10 , a month ago i'd of lumped on but despite Tuesday we are a different animal since the change of manager.

Hard to predict after playing well and losing badly in midweek. Whitfield is still missing, but Kay will be back. Lincoln are a capable team, so I will be more than happy with a point today, but do we have enough goals in us?

Hoping for a draw, but expecting a narrow defeat.

Sloppy start and 1-0 down already. Defensively still a mess from Tuesday. Sort it out!

Hit the bar and one off the line again. Fortune isn’t doing us any favours in recent games!

Sounds as though we’ve grown into the game after a poor start and it the bar and had one off the line before Danny Pugh of all people scored. Seemed an unsavoury incident where Rhead went down holding his face trying to get Kay sent off fired the lads up to a big push.

Need to push on now and keep going.

Shambolic, Tuesday had a degree of acceptability due to its nature... today doesn’t. We need January to hurry up.

Dire result and sounds from those there performance too.

From beating Burnley, taking WBA to penalties and beating the likes of Sheffield United and Wigan to relying on Barnet to balls up... what a season and a half it’s been. Feel for Aspin and it’s going to take years to sort this mess out and get back where we are. Need to keep in touch until January and hope Smurf sticks to his word and we spend well to get out of this.

Lowest season in our history and Brown the clown has left us in one ulmighty mess.

Another game gone, but January is getting closer, and we are still out of the bottom two. It's the only consolation after a bad week.

Been a disastrous few days really for us. At one point today we’d conceded all seven shots on target against us over the last two matches! Results haven’t been kind and from looking a different animal we’ve gone there today and not been good enough.

Two weeks off from the league now so hopefully have Whitfield back which will be massive for us as he offers something going forward we are missing.

Well he was kicked in the face, how rude of him to go down!
We had a player sent off for it earlier in the season after a player ducked in, your lad kicked Rheady in the face when he as stood upright, no booking very lucky imho from my angle.

You can't defend at all. We got loads of free headers in your box, first time this season really but sadly we didn't the chances or gamble enough when it was loose in the area especially in the first half.
Thought you didn't too bad going forward in the first half but you almost disappeared in the second and even more so after we went 3-1 up.
Decent noise and numbers, sadly a few let themselves down pre-match I'm told.

According to our local rag he was pushed and went down holding his face which caused a fracas as the Vale players felt he was trying to get Kay sent off.

We had a spell up until last Tuesday where we defended superbly but for some reason it’s gone completely to pot. First goal is a foul on Nathan to be fair but the others are second phase from us not doing simple things to clear lines.

A young back line bar Mad Gav (who’s out of position) so maybe a lack of experience and having peaks and troughs but they need to grow up quickly. Nathan was exceptional in his debut season last year for us, a rare light in a dark season and was convinced he would get us a million quid but hasn’t matched it this season yet against inferior strikers compared to the ones he faced last year.

Must have been a different incident as he was kicked in the face in the first half as we had a very good view of it from the family area, which is the block nearest the stand with the boxes in it.

An important win going into a 10 day break (14 day league break), as well as off the back of Tuesday's game and a deserved one at that.

You could tell with the 6 changes we made that it was back to basics by getting people in like Waterfall over Dickie, Habergham back in for a bit more balance on the left and especially risking Bostwick.

We were the better side initially but let Vale back into it around the 30 minute mark. Both sides hit the woodwork and had one cleared off the line during the course of the game.

Second half we were solid and had more in the tank has we needed it but Vale looked particularly poor to me. Some were saying they were worse than Barnet in the first half earlier in the season, but I wasn't there for that one.

Was a bit of a set to between them late on in the first half, was getting no free kicks from the ref despite being fouled constantly, Pope got plenty of free kicks for similar incidents.

We didn’t get the one that mattered with the first goal to be fair.

Pope usually has the same problem as a similar type of player usually never gets them and get given the opposite way!

Well there are no excuses, that was a shambolic defensive performance. I am probably alone in thinking Smith has regressed dreadfully and cannot cope with the robust journeymen types in this league.
He needs dropping/ resting.
Lincoln were ok, but didn't need to be great to win comfortably.
Bizarre that they suddenly have the Palace type singing and bouncing up and down, last time i went in January 2011 the place was empty and a morgue. Just shows what success and momentum can do i guess .
Thought 557 was a decent turnout for a team in the bottom 3 , overall a good day out despite the result, but then ruined by our wonderful Railway network leaving us stranded in Derby as connections were delayed .
