You get the width needed to provide crosses for Benteke and don't need to rely on Moreno to defend so much. This also eradicates the need for Lucas which is obviously a good thing. That alone is reason enough to do this.​

Rodgers has fucked himself by seemingly guaranteeing the ineffective Milner a starting position in central midfield. They've already got Henderson who offers everything Milner can but better (he's more creative and better defensively). A midfield diamond (similar to the season Gerrard slipped) of Can, Henderson, Coutinho and Firmino with Benteke and Ings/Sturridge up front could be decent.

Agree that they should play with two upfront as the season progresses. If not Rodgers is wasting his options.

Two up top would be ideal at the minute considering Markovic cleared off to Fenerbahce, leaving Ibe to be the only winger that can feasibly play 4-3-3. If there was any sense in King Brenny's head he'd opt for Benteke and Ings as a front two and let Moreno and Clyne provide width from full back.

If I had my way, I'd line up as...

You could probably argue Firmino or Can for Henderson if he's not 100%, you could even argue Can for Lucas if you want a bit more mobility at the base of the diamond.

Moreno + Clyne as wingbacks then I think its ok to play Benteke upfront alone. If not It has to be two up top, Benteke + Ings.

I found information that Henderson get injuried. He will be out for about few weeks because of breaking his right foot. In my opinion , he is a leader of LFC and no one can replace him. The most probable is Firmino, who didn't have too much chances to show his unnique skills. Brazilian midfielder is a very talented guy but he can't find his form in Liverpool and his stats only prove it: https://sporticos.com/en-gb/p/12740-roberto-firmino The most important thing for Rodgers will be choose two defensive midfielders. My favorites are Can and Lucas. They should be supported by Milner, but Coutinho and Firmino will focus on attacking plays.

Happy to see Sturridge play - probably for about 60 mins or so - I hope he, Benteke and Coutinho can gel together; and Sakho is starting, excellent! Should give Liverpool a decent chance of winning a game for the first time in a while!
