Bit of an iffy one this. New manager may mean a backlash and we dont often win 3 in a row. We arent playing particularly well either, but on form we should be winning this.

Ill say 9-7 Luton.

Be interesting to see what changes are made, if any, from last week. After the game Jones seemed to make comments about learning a few things, hopefully that includes playing with a bit of width on occasion, so we will see whether that was just emotion after a dramatic, if incredibly fortunate win, or there is real meaning behind that.

Perhaps slightly controversial but i wouldnt mind if Hylton is given a break and Cornick comes in to partner Collins. Hylton is clearly not quite up to speed yet having missed pre season and Cornick has been excellent in my opinion coming off the bench. Maybe he wont be as impactful from the start but I think he has earned a chance at least.

Also wouldnt be too averse to Shinnie moving to the bench and Berry getting a go at the 10 position. Think Berry has been decent in centre midfield but id like to see if he can get in the game more than Shinnie has recently in that position. Guessing that will all depend on if McCormack is good to go, if he isnt then we will need to rejig the midfield slightly. Think id prefer to see Pelly play the holding role if that happens (assuming we play the diamond).

with the top and bottom halves of the table beginning to take shape NJ could think about a few things IMO...
give the boy jarvis a runout..will be full of vigour and eager to prove himself....
trust hylton to come good after a faltering start....
bring cooke back in to add width,(deep sigh) and cross for whoever partners collins....
berry playing behind the forward two would be ok adding extra threat...
cant see the defence being overly worked....hope mpansy doesn't risk losing the begrudging approval i might soon show for him after last weeks better performance.....resists the urge to gallop forward as he does.....

If Newport could manage 4, and Crewe could manage 5, I'm going to be highly disappointed if the massive Luton Town can't at least hit their Yeovil total.

There's no new manager,

It's just Guy fucking Branston.

Our club's become 'I Claudius' - the idiot gets the gig because there's no one else left.

Maybe Pelly plays deeper role and Justin comes in right mid diamond. Would be a great right side as Stacey has looked good too.

I see Berry has been given a 3 game ban, pretty ridiculous IMO I saw the incident which I'm assuming it relates too and it took a ridiculous amount of provocation from the Wycombe player before he forced himself free of what was essentially a head lock. Still I guess you can't raise your hands and be overly aggressive but is basically carte Blanche for people bait that sort of response from a player. Akinfenwa gets nothing I see for charging onto the pitch and end enciting a fight at the end.

Pretty big blow for us as i think Berry would have been big for us in the next 3 games

I'm mystified by the 3 game ban. Very harsh to the say the least but we've been there done that with our beloved football authorities so should we be surprised. You'd expect a reaction from the Chesterfield players today in the light of recent events so maybe a tougher game than I was originally expecting. Still think we will have too much for them and should win. Will be interesting to see the formation after the comments last week although I suspect that any change will be made for away games rather than at home. If we are allowed to play our quick passing game then this could be an entertaining match, however the usual tactic from visiting teams is to not give us time on the ball and cut off the supply to our front two who have been closely marked restricting their movement. Wonder who will take the penalty today if we are given one?

Decent win and clean sheet, probably should have been more, even at 10 men where we got caught between running the clock down and going for a second we created some decent chances. Collins could have had hat trick today.

Good to see Danny on the score sheet too will do him good to get scoring goals again.

3 in a row! Not something we do too often

Sounds like the worst thing to happen for us was the red card!

Was fully expecting Karma to bite us and them sneak an injury time equaliser. Missed so many sitters. They missed a couple good chances too.

Jones really pissed off with someone in the Executive Box behind him at the end. See if it comes up in his post match diatribe :bg:

Was harsh taking off Gambin to be fair although he'll get another chance on Tuesday probably with the injuries/suspensions. He was excellent in the first half and having him on the left of the diamond gave us a nice balance and actual useful width with quality crosses coming in.

Not sure how we didn't win that by 4 or 5 really, another day Collins has a hat trick and Cornick should have scored.

Hylton and Collins started to connect as a partnership today for the first time which was really encouraging. The link up play for the sitter of a header Collins missed was excellent.

Hard to tell on iFollow but Pelly was really shocked. It gives someone a chance and saves Jones dropping him

Reason why I say it was definitely a red card is that Pelly went in studs up into his shin. The video from the gantry is definitely not a good enough angle; I saw it side on. As soon as the tackle went in I thought... fuck.
It was absolutely accidental, but you can't go in like that any more.

Shame about the red as Pelly was having a good game before that, arguably Luton's best player.

Agree that Luton could/should have had five or six. Collins and Pelly missed free headers from point blank range, Cook blazed over a great chance and Cornick has to score when through one on one. That doesn't even count two more good chances for Collins and Hylton hitting the side netting.

Chesterfield were very poor but every team who's come to Kenilworth Road this season has been awful frankly, Colchester in the first half were the only visiting team to show any quality in the five games so far.

Agree Chesterfield were very poor, sadly lacking confidence no more so than when they had a one man advantage yet we still looked the more likely to score. Hylton is getting back to his best and could have had a few goals today. Collins must feel quite frustrated he didn't get on the score sheet. At times we played very well with some great passing and vision. The only critiicism is the fact that we didn't put the game to bed early on. At one nil up there is always a chance that the oppositon will sneak an equaliser which was the case often last season. This season however we look a lot better team especially at home. With the amount of injuries and suspensions we have at the moment I'm relieved we have strength in depth. Thought Gambin looked good today and surely must get a game on Tuesday. Don't want to get too optimistic but there were signs today that the team are starting to gel and read eachothers play. A good sign.

As per the above, it could've been 4 or 5-0 yesterday, if not more. Collins should've had a brace minimum, whilst I've no idea how Pelly missed his header. Cornick somehow managed to hit the post whilst through on goal.

As for Chesterfield, first half they were very poor all over the park. Second balls were always coming back to Luton players; Wycombe for example wouldn't have allowed anywhere near the amount of space Luton were offered. They showed no desire or commitment and frankly looked lost out there. Second half was an improvement and they came out with a reaction, but Luton were still the better side; more so with ten men.

I note Guy Branston's comments after the game saying their performance was "fantastic". Really? If that's the performance levels you're looking for as a team, you're not going to do very well in this division.

I read on the Chesterfield forum that Chris O'Grady is being paid £4.5k a week up there. My goodness, what a waste of money. Absolute carthorse.

Sending off was insanely harsh, thought so in real time and confirmed by the video. Ref couldn't get his card out quick enough, pretty much literally had it out before Pelly had even finished the tackle. Weird.

I'm sure we'll appeal that.

Hope we do appeal. I wouldn't describe Pelly as the type of player that deliberately goes out ot injure an apponent. A mistimed tackle fair enough and a yellow card. Thought he had a bit of an off day. The missed header for example which he looked to glance wide of the keeper and losing the ball when being last man in the first half giving them a one on one. He does unfortunatley divide our support. Some supporters react negatively to his mistakes while others will try and lift him when he quite often wins challenges and goes on his forward runs. I'm not a great fan of getting on players backs it can only have a negative affect on the team.
I watched a little of the Chesterfield caretacker managers post match interview. I sincerely hope for their sake that they get someone else in. He sounded out of his depth. Apparently his players shone for him and at times scared us to death. Really! I'm sure the Chesterfields fans at the game may have seen a slightly different game.

From the front on angle it doesn't show a lot, but from where I was sitting side on, it was a definite red card. Studs up into his shin. And you can tell from the big "oooh" from the crowd when he goes in.

If mpansy has a future at Luton it looks like his role as a defensive midfielder will involve breaking up attacks, sticking his boot in where the shit n bullets fly and setting up play for the more skilled attacking midfielders.....
This sending off could be the making of him if he realises his limitations.....perhaps work still in progress??

I'd like to apologise for my recent outbursts. Football is a passionate game and we all have different opinions. The written word can sometimes be missinterpreted which I accept I may have done. No hard feelings Oaky. We are afterall on the same side.

Might look a bit harsh from that angle but I can't see any way Luton win an appeal. It's not a clear and obvious error from the ref, it just comes down to a judgement call. The panel isn't going to substitute their judgement from one camera a long way away from the tackle for that of the ref who is right on top of it.
