Hope the admins don't mind me posting this here, we have one of these threads on our (SCFC) forum and it's stickied with everyone who is doing a marathon, so if anyone else is doing well we could stick it in here?

The Manchester 10K marathon is next month and after my Nana sadly passed away just last week I've decided to make a late decision and run the marathon in memory of her and to raise awareness for Alzheimers Society, my Nana suffered with this and it's an awful thing to witness, not going to post any sob stories but I'd like to hit the £150 mark, which I think is a decent target to aim for in a month, I'd like to make my Nana proud and raise this money for a great charity so if anyone who is reading this, could you take a bit of time out of your day, make a big difference and donate whatever you can, I'd be delighted if you could just donate 50p, if everyone on this forum donated that amount I'd easily hit my target.

I'd like to thank Stagat (again!) for his donation and my first ever donation.

So please donate whatever you can, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks very much :)

Good cause but just so you know a 10k and a marathon are two very different distances! Are you doing the Manchester marathon in a few weeks? or the 10k next month?

I am having to defer the London marathon this month as I've picked up a knee injury and missed loads of training. Good thing is I'm going on a 6month tour in October and will be back just in time for next years London Marathon.

Good luck in your run.

ha, I didn't know that! It's a 10k run! I saw someone doing the same run call it a marathon so I'll blame them!

Cheers.

I'll pop you a tenner when I get paid, very worthy cause.

Running the London marathon this month, got a slight hip problem at the moment but I'm going to run through it with a bit of ibuprofen.

Ran the Dubai Marathon in February. It was excruciating.

Good luck to all of you who are running 10k's/Marathons over the coming weeks!

Dubai marathon? Unless it was run at midnight that must've been torture!!

I finally got my arse in gear and done the Birmingham 1/2 marathon last year, unfortunately have damaged the tendons in my knee and am currently undergoing physio and a strict no running or football so doubt I'll get in condition to do it again this year.

Good luck dude, 10k is a great distance.

Because it's February, and it started at 7am, the temperature didn't rise above 22/23 degrees!

Was still horrendous though!

My grandad passed away last year from the same illness. It's a horrible thing to happen to anyone and you have my full condolences.

Sorry I couldn't donate more but I've got a lot of things to pay off this month. Good luck with reaching your target and the marathon mate.

Thanks a lot, the donation is more than enough, really appreciate it. Sorry to hear about your grandad.

And many thanks to Gashead who also donated. :2thumb:

Yeah, 10km is what I run 3 times a week. A marathon is 42km or 26 miles. It's MASSIVE!

Cheers pal. My initial target was actually 150. I wanted to do the run in around an hour and I did it in exactly an hour, considering I struggled to do 3k a week before I'm happy with that.
