Pompey will be happy to return to League Two action on Saturday following their Capital One defeat to Stoke in mid-week.

Pompey have collected 10 points from a possible 12 ahead of their clash with Newport County.

Our opponents, though, are yet to taste victory in any competition thus far this season, however they picked up their first point in a 1-1 draw with Burton last Saturday.

The two sides met 3 times last season, with Newport triumphing twice: in the JPT and at Fratton Park, whilst Pompey came out on top in the reverse fixture.

Team news

Agyemang & Wynter are available for selection after returning to training.

But Jack Whatmough (ankle) and Michael Poke (achilles) are both major doubts.

Tom Craddock (knee), Danny East (groin), Wes Fogden (knee), and Bradley Tarbuck (ankle), are all still out of action.

Newport could hand a debut to Joe day, who has just joined on loan from Peterborough.

But the Welsh side are without Danny Crow (leg), and Rene Howe (thigh), while Aaron O'Connor (leg) and Chris Zebroski (groin) are both doubts.

Head to head

Pompey 11 wins,
Newport 10 wins,
6 draws

At Fratton Park

Pompey 7 wins,
Newport 4 wins,
3 draws

How is Craig Westcarr getting on down at FP? Scored goals for us but was so lazy it's unreal.

He's been decent! Provided the winner at Oxford away last week & I'm yet to notice any laziness. In my opinion he's too good for League 2, massive coup.

He will be good in league 2, but he has just enough to his game to cause problems. He scored goals for us and you can't moan at that record but the simple facts are that, his goal came at the detriment of every other attacking player in the side. His all round game is very poor and he is just too inconsistent to be a worthwhile league one player. Despite scoring 17 goals, if that makes sense. He really wasn't loved at the time and he isn't missed now.
