Jackie McNamara is to be appointed York City manager later today. Had a mixed time in Scotland but certainly has a good pedigree. Wasn't my first choice. but like all City fans ill get behind him - for a few weeks at least :)

I think it would have got ugly if Abbott had been appointed. This guy will at least get a bit of breathing space.

Scottish managers tend to be competent- generally speaking, higher up the pyramid- and he has a decent win record. Everybody who is sacked will have some critics, but he is an interesting appointment and clearly interviewed well... Welcome Jackie

Anything is better than Russ Wilcox quite frankly.

Welcome aboard.

Think this is a good appointment. Good win records at Partick and Dundee United (which is far from easy seeing as neither is a 'big club' particularly in Scotland), and like Adams at Plymouth he'll be able to bring in a bit of quality from north of the border who otherwise wouldn't be interested.

Of course, for every Derek Adams there is a Mark McGhee, but McNamara is young enough not to have lost that spark (a la McGhee) I think.

Good luck with him, we had a couple of great years under Neale Cooper who came from Ross County.

Can you just hang on a bit until we stop being utter dogshit, please.

A show of intent from the board for me. He brings his assistant with him and that package can't have come cheaply. Saw quite a few Thistle games while he was in charge along with a few at Dundee United and he likes to play football and for me did a terrific job at both Thistle and Dundee before getting shafted by the board.
It's an exciting appointment and with his many contacts and plans for the academy given his record of bringing young players through better times COULD be ahead. Of course if it's a success the downside is he probably won't be with us moving into the new stadium because we're just going to be a stepping stone to a move onto Championship level or above.

Oi oi York fans, I'm coming to your game at Accrington on Saturday.

1. How many fans are you likely to take?
2. Is the away end POTG?

TIA.

I'm personally not going, but
1) I'd say we would take 500 minimum personally, with the appointment putting a few on the gate.
2) Yes, our website says so

800! It was somewhere around 520, which wasn't bad given the biblical deluge in the 2nd half.
