6th v 3rd

Millwall claimed the last spot with a 4-3 final day win and should have confidence coming in to this two legged game.

Scunthorpe have been in the top 6 all season and might be disappointed to not already be promoted.

Mixed feelings on this. Dad's a Peckham boy so I always want his side to do well. But I would quite like to play Millwall next year. Last time we did I think he caused a bit of a stir with my fellow greens sitting around us, and I'd like to see that again.

Are there any away fans at either semi?

Doing OK. Certainly would be gutted if scunny come away with a draw from this game as they've been negative and otherwise poor.

What bright spark thought having them on a Thursday was a good idea?

They've got to be fitted in quick as our final is a week earlier than the other two finals.

Shite game, only worth talking about for the frankly weird behaviour of some of the Millwall fans, especially the group of 10 year olds chucking coins!

Well from an attacking standpoint that was horrific. Alexander clearly set us up for a draw to take into the second leg and thankfully our defenders played well. Not the best performance but we got what we wanted.

All the nerds out in full force I see... :dis:

Best and worst of Harris. Commitment and energy was great, but no ideas and relying on individual inspiration which doesn't come because we don't create enough space for our attacking players. Big opportunity missed coz while Scunny looked poor they will undoubtedly be a completely different proposition at Glanford Park.

Ah well. I don't have any expectations this time round so I'm actually enjoying this in a weird sort of way.

I watched this from high in the away stand and I really did not see it as us being negative and poor. I saw us not being allowed into a game dominated by Millwall. We had problems coming to grips with the Millwall style of early long ball to the two strikers, who can hold the ball up very well. We struggled with dealing with the layoff from the strikers and with more composure and to be frank, more nous, the through runners into the channels could have generated so much more for you. A real opportunity lost. The early chance which hit our keepers legs was the result of a terrible pass from one of our midfielders. We could not string any passes through midfield, because of the Millwall close down tactics and the energy associated with this. We played well in my book, dealing with an aggressive full-on Millwall side. I can understand you being gutted with the draw and no doubt you will understand that I was happy to get on the M11 coming away with something other than a defeat.

Weird behaviour? Standard behaviour for decades. Bottles and coins FFS. No effort on behalf of Millwall fans to change the behaviour. Dispiriting.

Baiting and goading. Dangerous to do that to a Scunny centre-half one-on-one on a dark London street, but on TV cameras under lights with no apparent consequences, in front of your mates and with the brain of a squid, why not? Society being dragged down to the lowest denominator and nobody gives a fuck. Why wasn't he arrested for encroaching on the field of play? Unlawful action isn't it? Along with the other cretins who stood in front of the police line with their arms open and faces masked, baiting the away fans. Don't coppers arrest anyone in South Bermondsey?

Yep, had it been a Tuesday night they would've both sold out.

Not us, we're too small. Maybe if your team had been playing, Fishy. But then this was a semifinal play-off and your lot are heading for the summer on Cleethorpes beach giving rides to the kids :bg:

Congratulations on staying up. Plucky performance :2thumb:

BTW - how did Dom Vose do with you? Not sure what we will be doing with him, but you wanted to sign him, before we stepped in, didn't you? Is he worth keeping or is he not really even L2 level?

I think our energy certainly posed questions, but you're right when you say we lacked guile and composure. Honestly, I think Scunny could have caused us real problems on the break but for whatever reason decided against it. On a different night we might have won by a couple, and I think Alexander got lucky with his approach in the end. What's done is done and we've got a real job on our hands keeping your boys out on Sunday, I think.

Not been playing regularly and when he does half the time he looks like he can't be arsed, definitely nowhere near League 1 standard for you boys.

Fuck me, you're a barrel of laughs.

Bit rich of you describing Swindon as a shithole when you come from Scunthorpe.

Are you in politics or the media? Blatantly misquoting me. I did not describe Swindon as a shithole. I said it was a west country slum. I have spent many a happy hour in the west country, a fine and lovely part of England. None of this time applies to Swindon. Enjoy your season in L2 and with the way you played against us, it is going to be a long one for you. Swindon's performance against us was the worst I can remember seeing in L1 (Division 3).

I really do not believe we decided not to break against you. I think you played us well in that regard. Harris had done his homework. Very little space was left available because you marked up brilliantly. I was talking to a Liverpool scout (London & SE) who was with me and we both commented on the way that your energy resulted in the dragging back of both our strikers into very deep positions. This resulted in restricted outlet ball. Morris tried to get onto them, but he had no support. Toney had one break, but lost confidence in his left foot. Coming out through midfield was very difficult due to your closing down and we are not strong in the passing department in there anyway, when there is restricted space. I don't believe Alexander's approach was planned as to what you saw. He knew what we would get from you and he was cautious no doubt, but the game panned out as you wanted and not as we did. Even though possession was even, control wasn't. It was your night for that. Our defence saw the game through though. Our centre backs were massive and both full backs had solid games. It was not a game of chances and apart from Lee Gregory's one in the first half, when he should have scored, I cannot think of another real shot on target by either of us. We saw both Jed Wallace and Morris with weak free kicks and that was it. Certainly not a game for the neutral to watch.

It will be interesting to see how we set up on Sunday. Dawson (our 8 who had to go off injured and got bottled and coined from the Dockers Stand) may be a doubt after that "accidental stamping" as Sky reported it. Maybe accidental standing, but stamping? Also, not sure of Toney's eligibility after his booking. We have pace and craft in others like Holmes and Van Veen, who you may see appear at Glanford Park. We can score goals as the final table shows, but I think the return leg will be very tight. I am expecting a one-goal difference at final whistle, either way. If you're coming up north, safe trip.

Millwall fans giving it to the Scunthorpe players getting ready to take a corner. Scunthorpe then scored. Brilliant
