After finally getting our first win of the season since the opening day on Saturday, there's a bit more optimism around the place. The general consensus is that we have a squad that should be pushing for the top half but unfortunately we had 11 games where we had no plan, no organisation, players out of position and ultimately no one fighting for the cause.
Aspin has instilled a bit of heart and desire into the squad, but also has a plan and the players look like they are buying into it. That is often enough to win games at this level, as quality is few and far between.
We need to follow up Saturday's performance with at least a point as we want to climb back in touch with the middle of the table and we've got Exeter away on Saturday.
Everyone tipped Morecambe to be down there after all their problems and they haven't started amazingly well. In spite of a win at Chesterfield, they played pretty poorly by all accounts and look to have season of struggle. They do have a canny manager however and he will set them up to work hard and they should be strong at home. We need to at least match their workrate and effort in order to get anything from the game.
With a bit of momentum, I'm hoping that we can push on and start to get towards mid-table by Christmas. Then at least we can see where we are in January. I expect that we will still have blips along the way as it is early days with the new management team but we really need to get a few results on the bounce.
