Here's his reasoning after doing the same thing after his first game in charge at Derby:

“I can get a better view up there, a better perspective, and that is important early on when a team is new to you,” he said.
“I am trying to get a picture of this instead of seeing legs and bodies on the touchline and shouting when they can’t hear me or they ignore me!
“I think it helps me in the end make better decisions for the team.”
