European tour for Tranmere tomorrow and my first visit down to Newport.

Imperative we bounce back quickly for a while host of reasons but it’ll be tricky, Newport with a decent home record and a terrible pitch which will obviously suit them more.

Ishmael Miller is potentially available for the bench and we could have done with that option on Tuesday to go more direct.

At least 600 Rovers making the trip as our initial allocation has sold out, but likely to be 800-1000.

I’ve been to Newport twice. Once in 79 (0-2) and once in 88 (3-0). Never been to the new set up at Newport though and won’t be there tomorrow either.
Got a soft spot for Newport after their exploits in Europe back in the days of Tynan and Aldridge.
Home win all day long for me this one! (But I’m rarely right when it comes to predicting Tranmere scores)

I was too young to go to Somerton Park but I think we played the last ever league game there, in the match BITDSS refers to ? My first visit to Newport and the only new ground in the division for me.

This feels like a watershed match for us. If we win, our automatic hopes get a boost and we could potentially be above MK by 5pm next Saturday. Lose and we could be looking over our shoulders at the sides outside the top seven. If we want to go up automatically we really have to win.

Newport are strong at home, McCullough is a big miss for us, and I don't feel too good about this one.

Agree with RLC, this is a pivotal game for the rest of our season. Expecting Mellon to make some adjustments after Oldham, but unsure what they'll be. Aside from expecting a tight game, no idea how it will pan out.

Should be a decent game. We still have a slim chance of reaching the play offs. Blew away the cobwebs last week at Yeovil so should still be fresh. Podge is fit too and back in the starting XI. 1-0 home win for me. Hopefully there’s a good away following in the league for the 1st time this season.

Smashing, looking forward to it. Btw if you fancy a tidy beer the 2 pubs in town to aim for are the Murenger and Tiny Rebel. 5 mins from the train station and on the way to Dave.

Somerton Park reeked of death that day, terrible silent atmosphere around the old dilapidated stadium. I’m sure I saw the grim reaper in the players bar after the game.

Not a great game. We should be in front when Ellis hit the bar from 6 yards out but other than that it’s just long balls then free kicks, no danger of a football match breaking out.

A crap game on the rugby pitch, Dagnall missed a sitter from two yards and ref decided not to give a penalty for the Newport keeper poleaxing Norwood. Standard

Probably 15 yellows in the game as the ref lost control and booked anyone he could.

Should’ve won that. Good point for Tranmere. Only one team trying to play today. Where d’you get the ref from ? Shocking.
Tranmere are a horrible cheating niggly bunch of fuckers. Summed up by Norwood - tidy player but throws himself to the floor all the time and is gobbing off for 90 mins. Lots of off the ball stuff, shirt pulling, diving etc etc.
Ref bottled it towards the end - clear second yellows for your 6 and the dwarf in midfield. Had some great chances especially second half, wanna see our disallowed goal again.
Decent away support for a change.670.
Onto Swindon Tuesday.

Should’ve won it with their 0 shots on target. Let’s be real it was a shit game that we had the only 2 chances in and the ref was just plan crap all round.

Sounds a bit like your lot at Prenton earlier in the season!

Terrible game on a shocking pitch but we had the better chances and should have won it. We were very unlucky that neither effort off the woodwork bobbled home. Other results were good for us, so not much harm done.

Yeah, the ref was dreadful for both sides and got ridiculously card happy. Our Twitter summed it up quite nicely with "Norwood is booked for standing next to a defender." We probably should have won, hit the wookwork twice, but chances were at a premium for both sides and the ref and his barnet stole the spotlight.

For a 0-0 draw, i enjoyed the game. On saying that, the ref made things comical all too often, dreadful he was. As ''Roger Stone'' stated, there were two Rovers players who aught have been shown second yellows during the second half. Norwood proved a menace, crying out for decisions from the ref. Fair result though.
