Matchday trois of the league season. After two solid performances against MK Dons and Nottingham Forest away, albeit defeats, Bury return to Gigg Lane on Saturday to face a glorified pub league side in Forest Green Rovers.

Forest Green themselves have gotten off to a solid start, with 4 points from 2 games and a victory in the Carabao Cup against Swindon.

Ryan Lowe favoured two up top on Tuesday night with Gold and Telford getting a run out, which worked fairly well. The squad has almost too much depth and a selection headache is certain for Lowe.

We’ve looked solid with both 3 and 5 at the back, so it’s a tough call, we either utilise the recent strength of our back-line at the expense of a striker or central midfielder.

I think by league Two standards it will be a fairly high quality game, both sides featuring good players.

Genuinely couldn’t pick a team, we’ve got decent options all over the field. O’Shea played well on Tuesday, but does he replace Mayor, who has also been excellent recently?

Murphy (GK)

Aimson O’Connell Miller

Dawson

Styles Danns

Mayor O’Shea Adams

Telford/Gold

Bench: Hudson, Thompson, Moore, Barjonas, Dagnall, Stokes, McFadzean

Could something like a 3-1-2-3-1 work?

O’Shea is listed as an attacking midfielder so put him just behind the striker, feeding it wide to Mayor and Adams. Danns and Styles collecting the ball and working it up the pitch and to the wide areas. Dawson can clean up in the defensive third to stop FGR running freely towards our defence. Telford has pace, Gold has height.. which to choose?

Doubts over the wing back positions as there’d surely be too much attacking space for the opposition.

Hmm tough one. It will probably end up being 4-5-1 again and we will lack a goal threat.

1-0 either way or 0-0 if we start with 4-5-1

Attendance 3,018 with 104 Vegans.

Tough one this, expect about 8 changes from Tuesday as despite winning we didn't play all that well. Play like we did in our first 2 league games and we could get something, the players definitely seem to be in a confident mood. Bury like to play decent football apparently so should be an entertaining game.

Finally, the rivalry comes to a head after all these years of not playing each other and Bury fans not even being able to find us on a map.
Same starting XI as the two league games and we'll give it a very good go, I'd say. Seem to be getting it together and there's more to come from a couple of decent players as they get up to speed - don't think Doidge is quite firing on all cylinders yet, for example.

The rivalry went up a notch yesterday after your chairman refused King Kev's brand of Buffet. Pathetic!

Stuggling to find any inflatable black puddings round here- most disappointing.

Not sure our bus is going it didnt seem to against Swindon so we may not creep into the 100 fan bracket here

Pretty sure saw coach bookings up on official site. They did get one on down to Swindon in the end too, but only after nagging.

We had about 300 at Swindon though, despite the issues.

The supporters coach is subsidised for league games so runs every week without fail for those.

Trouble is there's so much more on in the Nailsworth area that's more appealing to the casual fan than a trip to Bury. Heard a bloke in Inchbrook is planning to creosote his fence so there'll be a lot out watching that.

Start the same team as Forrest except Danns for Dawson and I would be fairly confident

Is Keith saving himself for Lincoln away, or has this ticket announcement destroyed your plans?

Graham Lewis has sorted tickets mate, costing me a bed for the night and most likely a bloody headache in the morning:db:

I sincerely hope that creosoting fencing on a Saturday afternoon doesn't take off in our area?
Good God that type of thing could knock a fair hole in the gates.
It's bad enough having Salford City on our doorstep.
I fear the worst .......

Only takes a poorly scheduled village fete with a few tasty tombola prizes and we might struggle to crack 2,000 at home ourselves.

FORREST?
It was you wasn't it Keith?
I have always wondered who sprayed " FORREST DIE" on the gable end of the house on the corner of Brierley St/ Gigg Lane before that Quarter Final match all those years ago!

No reason to be negative after a good start to the season really. Mark Cooper acknoledged and praised Bury's style of play and sounded a little apprehensive. Possibly mind games, but I think reality is going to smack in the face despite many pointers to the opposite. Feel a slip-up coming, possibly a correction where our enthusiasm is put to the test. Hopefully I'm wrong, and just suffering from pre-match tension, and we'll continue in the same vein as recent matches and romp home to confound our critics. erm.

Gone for same starting line-up as the previous two league games. Must have gelled more than a teenager's hair by now so watch out Shakers.

Very early booking for Gunning bit of a worry, then Bury coming forward well and missed a free header but we've been in it, won a load of corners and now Doidge has put us ahead. :woo:

Defending still an issue when we sit back on a lead. Always painful to concede late on. But I guess Bury fans will be more disillusioned than us.

I hate drama, why I've devoted a life time to watching football makes no sence!

Hopefully Tuesday's game will be more clear cut.

Was at game and like to thanks all the Bury supporters who us most welcome. Thanks guys.
Bury initially started game very positive and had me worried until FGR started to dominate. Bury forward missed an open goal when it appeared easier to score but minutes later FGR also had a great chance to take lead but the ball went just wide.
The goal came at a time when Bury were under great pressure but as usual this season FGR failed to capitalize with more goals.
From start of 2nd half Bury improved from for first 45 minutes but nevertheless we were pretty sure that they would not score. The sending off changed the completion of the game. And to concede on 90th minute is not best feeling.
I guess a point apiece is about right.

BTW I caught out of the corner of my eye the latter stages of a verbal confrontation between some Bury supporters and a FGR player during the half time break.
What was that all about?

A point earned in the last minute by King Kev Premier League against Newcastle then a point earned injury time at Gigg Lane. Not bad considering we didn't play well.
