Matchday trois of the league season. After two solid performances against MK Dons and Nottingham Forest away, albeit defeats, Bury return to Gigg Lane on Saturday to face a glorified pub league side in Forest Green Rovers.
Forest Green themselves have gotten off to a solid start, with 4 points from 2 games and a victory in the Carabao Cup against Swindon.
Ryan Lowe favoured two up top on Tuesday night with Gold and Telford getting a run out, which worked fairly well. The squad has almost too much depth and a selection headache is certain for Lowe.
We’ve looked solid with both 3 and 5 at the back, so it’s a tough call, we either utilise the recent strength of our back-line at the expense of a striker or central midfielder.
I think by league Two standards it will be a fairly high quality game, both sides featuring good players.
Genuinely couldn’t pick a team, we’ve got decent options all over the field. O’Shea played well on Tuesday, but does he replace Mayor, who has also been excellent recently?
Murphy (GK)
Aimson O’Connell Miller
Dawson
Styles Danns
Mayor O’Shea Adams
Telford/Gold
Bench: Hudson, Thompson, Moore, Barjonas, Dagnall, Stokes, McFadzean
Could something like a 3-1-2-3-1 work?
O’Shea is listed as an attacking midfielder so put him just behind the striker, feeding it wide to Mayor and Adams. Danns and Styles collecting the ball and working it up the pitch and to the wide areas. Dawson can clean up in the defensive third to stop FGR running freely towards our defence. Telford has pace, Gold has height.. which to choose?
Doubts over the wing back positions as there’d surely be too much attacking space for the opposition.
Hmm tough one. It will probably end up being 4-5-1 again and we will lack a goal threat.
1-0 either way or 0-0 if we start with 4-5-1
Attendance 3,018 with 104 Vegans.
