Really looking forward to this. So many subplots to this game. Top vs bottom throw in the Liam Noble saga which rolled on through the summer where Noble used Notts as a pawn to get a pay rise at FGR.

The chairman both had their say in the media pre season about Notts bidding for Noble.

On top of that throw in Mark Cooper who is despised by Notts fans for his downright contempt for us during our 5-0 demolition away at Mansfield under his stewardship where key players were removed and replaced with youth teamers mid game and the disgraceful way he put out a team last game of the season against Carlisle which lost 5-0 could have been 15 and walked down the tunnel drove to Forest Green and signed at full time. Taking Noble with him who he has publicly criticised and had got sent off very suspiciously against Cambridge scuppering a potential deal there and this game has the makings of a cracker!

We are expecting a gate around 10k for the second successive home game. How many will FGR bring given tickets are a tenner?

County 6-0 FGR

no matter how average county were this weekend, FGR are terrible and I really dislike cooper, he's never done anything and always gets a decent job

We gave them all the time and space in the world in the first half and they did nothing with it, its almost like they don't know how to win a game of league football.

I'm sure I've read Noble has been released along with a couple of other big earners at FGR, not a happy camp in darkest Gloucestershire...

Smash and grab 1-0 away FGR victory? Hope not, pressure on notts with a bumper crowd and all but I feel the player's will bounce back following a poor performance yesterday.

Will Cooper be gone if they lose this?

Lots of speculation on Noble & Keanu Marsh-Brown.
Cooper has said KMB is a luxury the club cannot afford with his lack of effort. [I disagree]
and club has just posted following:

FOREST GREEN captain Liam Noble is expected to remain sidelined for the foreseeable future.
An FGR spokesman said: “Liam Noble is not available for selection due to a medical matter.”

Only those inside club know full facts reference Noble, so best not speculate until full information becomes public.

Seems like they are determined to head back to non league isolating two big goal threats.

If they are out it may be worth a bet Saturday.

Some people would suggest Noble has isolated himself.

In all seriousness he may be having problems similar to our player Nathan Arnold has but thankfully he has his problems under control now.

That is certainly the suggestion. If it is I definitely wish him all the best. Hopefully he can get sorted.

I heard it was less anxiety and depression, more the means by which some individuals can attempt to control it. That the club statement didn't provide and well wishes to LN makes me think there is some friction behind the scenes.

Depression, anxiety and self-medication are all illnesses.

FGR certainly have the odds stacked against them for suvival. Do you think Cooper is the root of problems given this news or has a job which has become too big for him?

Very difficult to say.
FGR have played well in parts and have been unlucky. But that is the same of all teams at bottom of table.
Cooper, to his credit, wants the team to play attractive football and not hoofball, but if survival depends upon it he has said FGR will go down that route.
Some of the most successful team managers of the past have been monsters in the dressing room and seemingly Cooper is following in that tradition.
On a one-to-one he is polite and open but does have great problems with his own PR. To continually name and shame players is counter-productive which he does not seem to appreciate. He fails to fully acknowledge FGR supporters with just an occasional clap towards them.
But I do half admire his single-mindedness. He quite often sees something in a players that us supporters miss and continues playing the guy until we all come around to manager's opinion. One example is always having son Charlie in team despite much derision from the fans. They are belatedly accepting he has become a better player than a year ago. [FGR were promoted with CC regularly in team]

Could be drugs related. Usually when someone had failed a drugs test, they say a non specified medical issue.

Could be behaviour with Liam. He's a talented footballer, but he struggles to control his emotions. I am surprised he's been down in Stroud for so long. He talked about missing home and his family when he was in Nottingham which is a hell of a lot closer

I think Cooper's summer transfer dealings are the cause of the problem. He's gone for a lot of players on the way down and a lot who are young and unproven. The overall quality isn't there despite solid effort. So, yes, he's messed up. As long as we are in touch with the third from bottom team or take that place, I expect him to be safe in his job.

It seemed from an outsiders perspective that much of FGR's pre season was full of distractions from the media etc.

Seems like that from the inside too. A lot gets said about press coverage, new ground, Quorn pies, veganism and the like, but not so much on the football. I sometimes wonder who MC is accountable to.

Can we please use “alledgidly” when guessing at anything. It is obviously a sensitive subject and one that we may never hear about. Just be careful.

I allege the only reason this alleged 'medical issue' has been highlighted by FGR is because the manager allegedly still hopes to build bridges with the player.

Assuming that he has got a medical problem, rather than FGR looking to cover up some kind of falling out, I hope Noble is alright and gets himself sorted. Despite his well documented disciplinary problems at Notts, suggestion from everyone was that he was a genuinely nice lad.

We need to bounce back here after last week and i'm relatively confident that we will. Hoping that a week off will have helped a couple of players get a bit of rest, was certainly some showing the effects of so many games so quickly during the Mansfield one. Could do with Dan Jones being fit - Dickinson is okay defensively but Jones is such an important attacking asset for us.

I've got no issue with FGR, the eco/vegan stuff is more interesting than anything else, but Mark Cooper is a massive bellend so I hope that we stuff them.
