Notts vs Morecambe at Meadow Lane features no fewer than 3 of our ex forwards. First there's the headless chicken Campbell who was terrible. Second there's Vadaine Oliver who had a spectacular impact off the bench against Grimsby while on loan and singlehandedly went on a one man rescue mission to get a point to promptly then never be seen again. Last there's Garry Thompson who you forget is still playing but was a good servent for us.

Always been a fan of Jim Bentley who has done a great job year in year out under very difficult circumstances and shown great loyalty. Remember your fans having a whip round for him after you beat us last season and him getting emotional on air.

Somehow we have barely lost at home under Nolan and we are beginning to gel nicely and grind out points. Ellison always scored against us hoping for a win to keep the momentum going which bizarrely vanished last season following a huge deluge leaving the game abandoned after a few minutes!

Vadine Oliver is banned after getting sent off on Saturday. He does love a red card Vadine. I remember he came on for the last ten away at Crawley last year and was very lucky to remain on the pitch. Could easily have gone.

Ellison has scored a lot of goals against everyone to be fair. Isn't he drawing his pension yet? Fair play to him though to keep himself fit enough to be playing at his age.

I do think we are going to be a worse home team than away side this year. Teams will come and do what we do away from home. Shut up shop, stick ten behind the ball and say come at us. We don't really have the creativity to break down sides and we don't really try to be honest. We'll just keep putting balls in "areas". We don't tend to get good results against Morecambe, but I don't think we'll lose....

If we lose to a team containing Adam Campbell and Garry Thompson I want Kev Nolan sacked with immediate effect. I can't and won't stand for it.

Is there some forum competition on who gets to start the earliest match thread that I'm unaware of? Starting a match thread on a fucking Sunday for god's sake :ffs: For a match against mighty Morecambe. Christ on a bike.

Don't get me wrong, the op seems like a decent fella so nothing personal. Still, starting threads some 6 or 7 days before only helps to further clutter up the forum.

Haha no offence taken. Please accept my apology however I would like to claim mitigating circumstances. We have been absolutely utter dogshit for such a prolonged number of years it's just a novelty to be winning games and have optimism around the club. Last season we lost 13 games running and I witnessed every painful second of it! You can change your house car and even Mrs but never your club. Least let us pies enjoy a few games of winning before the reality of the season and midtable mediocrity is upon us?

I can relate to that. The calmness that washed in yesterday needed reinforcement and I was considering starting a Bees v U's thread, if only to avoid the ignominy of the Carver thread for a second weekend, then I realised that I had nothing interesting or useful to say on the subject. This time I took the hint and decided to wait and concentrate on the positives to be gleaned from a decent crop of brassicas and the scope for a less embarassing style of missing out on promotion up at Holker Street.

Oi, Vanni who made you head of the thread police.
I'm looking forward to it already and hoping to keep the run goimg.
I'm also interested to see how Campbell plays. Always felt sorry for I'm as he is not a bad footballer but is handicapped by his lack of height, he was just too easy to run down and smother. If he plays wide right and Jones plays to his potential it could be tough for him.

Vadaine Oliver is in the Shaun Batt category of Strikers Who Shouldn't be Pro Footballers

When I watch Oliver, I always think there's a half decent pro in there. He just makes ridiculous decisions and finishing can be suspect. Certainly has the build and touch to do it

We should be winning this but i'm more comfortable with this team when the onus is on them to defend rather than attack.

Maybe an argument for starting Alessandra over Hawkridge as he's more of a goal threat, but would be harsh on TH who has been a model of consistency so far.

Oliver ruined us for 10 minutes last season. Thought he looked a player. Clearly not.

Oliver's got the raw ability to be a good player and when he's on it he can be a real handful, think his problems are in his head as much as anything else.

And who am I to spoil the fun

Vanni the measure of success is whether or not you get your annual goalkeeping calamity 3 points this year!

Bit cliche but this is the type of game we ought to be winning if we want promotion this season. A tough, physical leauge 2 team, who did the double over us last season.

Can see it being a slower burner, a late goal for notts to make it 1-0.

First game this season where I am actually thinking we "should" win, which will undoubtedly lead to another result.

Seriously though despite last season, which was very bad for pretty much all of it, we should pick up 3 points here. It does now look like the management and AH et al have agreed that we should be pushing for the play offs rather than straight promotion, in fact Nolan said he wants to be top half after Christmas, so expectations are gradually falling (if they weren't already looking 6-11th place anyway).

Last season wasn't really bad for pretty much all of it tbf, we were actually good last season for a longer period of time than we were bad.

Just that bit when we were bad, fucking hell...

Hoping for a home win but our record against Morecambe isn't great at all and with so many ex players in their squad tempted to have a bet on at least one of them to score!

To be fair to Vinedine Vadaine, I was worried when we signed him but he's actually fit in really well here. He just needs more support, he wins everything in the air for us. Massive shame about his sending off, which was never a red.

Not expecting much on Saturday, but we are better away from home as like every season. The last 2 home games have been woeful.

Big Kev will probably start after getting a late goal last weekend, he's not done a lot so far, better as an impact sub now.

If you can keep Vadaine interested then he'll be alright, was pretty good for us for a couple of months. If you could somehow transplant Adam Campbell's willingness to run around a lot and stick at it into him then you'd have a player.

Coventry, Wycombe and Accrington all look like decent teams to me.

Anyway, only one team in that from start to end but we do need to be more clinical at home, game should never have been alive as long as it was.

Only one team in that Campbell is still awful. Morecambe looked well organised but dull. Cannot believe that away following fair play to the 70 odd that travelled though.

Will be interested to see how many travel to Yeovil for them midweek.

Tell you what, I'm well happy for Dan Jones. Took an absolute pasting after the Coventry game but he's been so good since, man of the match again today. That's three of the last four.

Agreed with Accrington, don't know how they do it every year

We really should have killed this game by half time. Unless we get more ruthless, we will get done over by teams who get one chance and score.

Dan Jones is looking like a very good signing if we can keep him fit. Offers a real outlet down the left.

Amoebi will be a big miss, I hope he's not out for long.
