September has been and gone, so it's time to post your predictions for the month of October. We managed to get through a pretty difficult looking month with 11 points from a possible 21, but we failed to win any of our three local derbies. Which is nice, because we start October with another one...

Chesterfield (H) - Win
Cambridge (H) - Draw
Swindon (A) - Lose
Cheltenham (A) - Draw
Crawley (H) - Win

8/15 to keep us well in contention.

Accrington Stanley (A) - Draw
Stevenage (H) - Win
Exeter (A) - Lose
Crawley (A) - Win
Coventry (H) - Draw

Slightly less optimistic this month as on paper at least they look tough. If we'd played Accrington midweek we'd lose but it being a Saturday I think we'll get a hard earned draw. I expect Exeter to continue their fine form and narrowly beat us. Coventry at home will have a cup tie feel about it and a draw could well be on the cards. The Stevenage and Crawley games aren't nailed on either as they tend to do well against us. A very tough month but if we want to get promotion this season we really need to get at least 8 points from these 5 games.

Forest Green (H) - Win. A bumper crowd for this one and the players should be up for it, wanting to bounce back from Saturday's defeat.
Barnet (H) - Win. Barnet's form has tailed off a bit, so it's a good time to play them
Crewe (A) - Lose. despite our remarkable record against Crewe I think that it'll be a very tough game, and just see a midweek defeat here.
Carlisle (A) - Draw.
Newport (H) - Win. a good Newport team but our home rerecord is very good.

So that's 10 points from 15 games, a decent return and play off form should all these results come through, it is, on paper an easier run in than Septembers, but then again this league has been unpredictable as ever this season.

Oldham (H, Checkatrade) - Loss. They are on an upward swing under the caretaker manager and I want to see us go into full on experimentation mode in this one. If we can grab a result, sweet. If not, not bothered.

Stevenage (H) - Draw. This run has got to end somewhere right? We've been beaten by Stevenage 3 times at Gresty Road, got a horrible record against them at home. Hopefully we can show up and grab a result because we desperately need one.

Yeovil (A) - Win. Bout time we got something down there. They, like us, are looking like a bottom half team(no offence Glovers fans) and our away games are favourable in the next few months. Got to be looking at a win from this one, not sure we'll get it though.

Notts County (H) - Loss. One of our top 5 bogey teams. Haven't beaten them in the last 12 match ups, going back to 1997. County look like they have a really good team this season and I'd imagine they'll stretch their unbeaten run against us to 13 here.

Accrington Stanley (H) - Draw. Another tough home game and another team/manager we struggle against. I'll happily take a draw from this one.

Colchester United (A) - Loss. They are pretty good at home, but we do enjoy visiting them, even if our winning streak there ended last season. Think they might well edge this one.

Tough month this for us, particularly our home games. I'm expecting any points we do pick up to all come away from home. 1. Because our performances have been terrible at home and 2. because we face the teams currently in 1st, 2nd and 7th

Carlisle 1-3 Exeter
Colchester 1-1 Carlisle
Carlisle 0-1 Wycombe
Carlisle 0-3 Notts County
Chesterfield 0-0 Carlisle

2 points from 5 games. Really shit and it will mainly be because our attack is so shite. Defensively we're better with Clint Hill, but Parkes being suspended for 4 games and Ellis out on loan leaves us short of cover at CB which the top sides like exeter and Notts will exploit.

A poor month that will leave us in trouble, but at least we get 3 tough home games out of the way.

Typical of us to end streaks of other teams, whether winning or losing. I don't expect us to go winless but I'm still struggling to see where our goals are coming from and while our defence was okay against Lincoln, that most definitely won't keep up. Oh and we all know we'll lose to Cheltenham with Pell scoring.

Not sure it will quite go like that but think from those 5 we will get a minimum of 9 points, giving us 34 from 16... That'd do, going into Nov where we face Stevenage, Cheltenham, Yeovil & Col U...

Vs Coventry - home - draw
Vs Stevenage - away - draw
Vs Crewe - away - win
Vs Barnet - home - win

Tough home fixtures to start the month, one win from either would be a great result but feel best we can hope for is not to lose either. Never seem to get a good result against stevenage. 9 points from 15, would take us to 31 points from 16 games and keep us in the top 7.

Seeing as Coventry got our monkey of their backs last week, I just hope we can do the same against Cheltnum this Saturday. It's got beyond a joke now. We also have Mansfield, Lincoln and Wycombe this month which should help sort out the season we're likely to have. 8 points would do nicely - especially shoving one up Evans' fat arse.

Two very tough home games against Exeter and Swindon, Newport also started well and we never really do well in Wales. I'd be looking for 9 points at least to stay in the mix. Anymore and that would be excellent.

Forest Green (H): W 4-0

Everything in this game points to a home win. 13,000 home fans, almost a fully fit squad, top v bottom, goals all over the team from Notts, FGR defence struggling. So the betting people around will be having a fiver on FGR. Seriously we have to be winning here

Barnet (H): W 1-0

Not in the best of form and Notts are in fine form at home but I think this will be w close one.

Crewe (A): W 2-1

As much as Mansfield are a bogey side for us we are the same for Crewe recently. Hopefully the trend continues with a grab of the points at the death

Carlisle (A): L 0-1

Always look at Carlisle and think they should be doing a lot better, the never seem to. I think the trip might be a fruitless one.

Newport (H): W 2-1

They owe us one for letting them beat us on final day last season. They have continued like us this season but have tailed off slightly recently.

12/15 very good return hopefully

8/15 in the end for Notts, not a bad effort to be honest and to remain top of the league despite a tricky month is fantastic. I think a reality check was needed for some, and hopefully the win against Newport has pulled them through this sticky patch.

Ten out of fifteen for us, which clearly means we'll be overtaking Notts some time in 2019. Seriously though, delighted at the turnaround. November's easier on paper, if we do similar for those we can really start to believe.

Got to be happy with having had a tough few games where we've not played well and still being top.

Predicted 5, got 6. But, only saw 2 league losses and we lost 3. Piss poor return.

Yep very happy with that. If we can repeat that next month we're well on track.

6 points out of a possible 15.

Not as shite as I predicted, but still shite nonetheless and it’s another month of being stuck down in the bottom third of the league which sadly is looking like where we’re going to stay

10 points this month which on paper looked very tough. Didn't expect us to beat Accrington or Exeter away from home so chuffed with that. I did however expect us to beat Crawley and get something out our game v Coventry. Just proof how hard this league is to predict. Have played some great football, netted a shed load of goals and got some of the feelgood factor back. Shame we ruined it a little at the end but can't grumble overall.
