I'll be there in a few weeks and have the choice of three games in the Premier League or Championship. QPR-Hull City, Fulham-Sheffield Wednesday, or Tottenham-Chelsea.

It would be easier on the schedule to go to a match on Saturday (QPR or Fulham) but those are smaller stadiums. Tickets to Tottenham-Chelsea are about the same price (crazy) as the other matches but of course the quality on display is vastly superior.

Would seem like a no brainer to go to Wembley but will the atmosphere be good there? Watching English football for years I've always admired the mystique of small, old stadiums. I'm mainly wanting to see a great atmosphere, and I'm not sure if Wembley will be packed with the intense atmosphere of a smaller venue.

So, all that being said...which game would you all pick?

If you're after intense atmosphere you're pissing in the wind with all three stadia I'm afraid... Out of the three, QPR are probably the best for atmosphere though.

I reckon Fulham-Wednesday would be a better shout Jase. 3/4k dee dars should make a decent atmosphere in the away end. Probably as good a game as you might see quality wise too for the Championship.

The atmosphere at white Hart lane was without a shadow of a doubt the best in the country so I'm sure the spurs fans will do their best to try and replicate it. The atmosphere at Fulham is completely non existent , will be awful at QPR too. I'd be choosing Wembley for sure

Fair shout, also, Hull aren't exactly conducive towards a decent atmosphere.

I disagree with your first point, but fair enough... Regards Wembley, I've never seen a good atmosphere in that stadium, if Spurs can do it fair play to them though.

I agree it's always shit at Wembley, to be honest it's shit everywhere 90% of the time so May as well just choose the spurs game for the football.

Thanks, guys. Looks like it will have to be Wembley. I'll just have to hope for a good match. I get 40,000 fans every week for my Sounders here in Seattle but a big game at Wembley is another thing altogether.

I'd definitely choose Fulham vs Wednesday if you want atmosphere. Go in the neutral end.

On paper the best experience would be Tottenham v Chelsea, the biggest and most impressive stadium, local derby so the atmosphere should be good and 2 top class teams.

However Fulham v Wednesday should also be good. The Fulham ground has an old school old fashioned romantic charm about it. There is an higher % of genuine fans in the Championship as PL matches can sometimes have glory hunters, day trippers and tourists.

2 very different experiences and both have validity.
For a tourist I'd have to recommend the Spurs-Chelsea game at Wembley as the one gauranteed to provide a great experience.

QPR vs Hull at Loftus Road on Saturday and watch Spurs vs Chelsea on Sunday on the TV in a pub. Take plenty of beer money.

Sorted.

Has to be Fulham v Wednesday mate. Go in the neutral end, it will be full of Wednesday fans and be a cracking atmosphere.

There won't be any Wednesday fans in it, they won't sell 4k this season in the normal away end.

Not as massive as they'd have us believe then

Not as massive as a lot of the deluded ones believe but still a very very well supported club away from home, I'd be amazed if they manage 4k this time, 3k tops I'd go for.
