I think i'd be worried if i was a Northampton fan, i've just read another article on their problems and fans comments are not hopeful. Hope they can resolve their problems with the council.

Their chairman has always come across as a complete buffoon. Expecting promotion nigh on every year since they went down with us in 2009 despite paying a lot of managers off and for a lot of mediocre players in that time. He must have spent millions on Northampton in that time.

I feel sorry for their fans who are a fantastic bunch and even when they've been in the shit before they've always backed them in numbers at our place, but their owner genuinely seems devoid of a sound business plan apart from taking loans and chucking obscene amounts of money at a fourth tier club without the infrastructure and personnel within the club to take them to a higher level, so they have every reason to doubt that he's got the money to pay the Borough Council back their loan.

Not as I understand it. The owner guaranteed the loan so would be liable if the club fail to come up with the readies.

I don't understand why anyone would purchase the club, clear the debt then put in the 7-8 million or so needed for the redevelopment which is what has been promised. It is shocking that that amount of money can be mis used, but I don't see the borough council doing anything major. Think it's more of a scare tactic. Would be a huge political gaffe. Either way need this new owner if he does exist to show up ASAP.

My hope is it weakens his selling price with the consortium (if it exists) and the reason it is delayed is they are not stupid and have got him by his goolies and have made it clear if their offer is not accepted far worse will happen.

The thing is the designs suggested it would only be extended by a few 100, which was ridiculed by everyone. Increase the away end at least would of made sense. Boxes were going to be added, along with a hotel and conference centre etc but the whole thing has been a farce. 12 million and we have one less stand. Unbelievable. Could of just stuck some seats on the hill and kept the east stand.

Up here we've seen a vanity project kill off Darlo ... One man's stupidity destroying 100 + years of history ...apart from one or two noticeable exceptions , at our level 10000 is never going to happen so why build in excess ?

We don't have the money to pay it back but there are other options. I personally heard the Indians had cleared off a while ago so this wasn't a surprising revelation. Local businessmen have met with the council to discuss how to keep us afloat should we need it but there are people there ready to intervene.
