Holy crap! It looks like Pebble Beach

I hope the huge money we spent on hybrid pitch with undersoil heating and efficient drainage has passed the recent weather test.

That looks very serious. I guess in the short term it could be a case of swapping the home games for away games for a while - but would the league agree to that?

It'll be more about the logistics of swapping at short notice. Suppose they need to wait for the water to subside first, do a damage assessment and how long any repairs will take before the pitch is considered playable. Which, looking at the state of it, could be weeks.

Suppose we'd be happy to switch our game with them next Tuesday around, as we play them on a midweek in late January up here, so a swap doesn't matter too much. Again, it'll just be about whether the EFL would allow it and whether we could arrange the necessary policing, stewarding, catering, etc, with only a week to go.

Looks a serious amount needs to be spent to get it back to its normal state. This surely is around 10 years old?

Carlisle did a tour of nearby (ish, it being Carlisle) grounds when they flooded a few years ago. I remember watching us play them at Preston. You’d guess that would be easier for Wimbledon as well if it is a longer term fix with the number of other clubs close to them.

I think it’s maybe more likely you play at another localish stadium to play the fixtures?

I think (and hope) the EFL will be accommodating considering the circumstances.

Yeah we played 3 home games away from Brunton. You at deepdale, Yeovil at Bloomfield Road and Plymouth at ewood park. We were back within a month, but we didn’t have sink holes on our pitch like that!

Flooding was one of the concerns with the site but it was meant to have been mitigated by underground tanks to store floodwaters. Something's clearly gone wrong with the forecasts or construction.

If both clubs agree then the EFL don't typically raise any objections, we've done it on occasion

I suspect the calculations were based on average rainfall, etc... What we've had over the weekend is probably one of those "once in a generation" rain deluges.

Plenty of West London clubs to offer a home on a temporary basis at least.

Looks a difficult fix that , probably months rather than weeks - let's hope it's not too costly , clubs are flexible with fixtures and the EFL are not a pain in the arse .

Think that will be the answer. Hope neighbouring clubs will be sympathetic with the "rent". When Carlisle did their tour, do you know if the goldfish went with them?

They could play their home games at Milton Keynes maybe until it's resolved?
Give us 7 figures plus each game it’s needed to cover the damages and the cleaning costs (we’ll need to scrub every part of the stadium they touch) and I’m all for this for the memes
