Interesting that Warnock told Paynter he'd enjoy Doncaster more

He looked fit at the end of the season for us too... it was just the 8 months prior to that that he was unfit.

Other than that, we can only take him at his word, but parts of it tally with what other released players such as Matty Robson have said, that there definitely was an outcast group who had to train before the main group, then hang around till the rest had finished and train again after; so likely true... he really was still very unfit for most of the season.

Both sides are guilty on this case from what I can tell. Curle shouldn't have dealt with the players as he did but at the end of the day he's only ostracised the underperforming and high-earning players. Anyone who thinks he's been vindictive towards the whole team obviously hasn't seen other things he's done in order to get the other players performing - a prime example is him promoting Rigg to the first team after we lost 8-1 to the Newcastle reserves when everyone was talking about getting rid of him.

I can't imagine how frustrating it would be trying to save a team from relegation all the while having players like Paynter who essentially just took the piss for most of the season and then performed in one game at the end so as to win back the fans. I wouldn't have gone as far as he did, but at the same time I wouldn't have been welcoming to Paynter at all given the circumstances. Dicker is the one I disagree with the most because he seems like a model professional and we've seen that he can completely dictate a game when he's playing well. Hopefully we'll see a bit more of him next season, but thank fuck we aren't seeing any more of that complete waster Paynter.

Oh and Curle is a c***, but I fully support him on this particular case. Any way to get rid of Billy without paying him off is fine by me.

The guy was a fat, unfit, unprofessional tub of lard before Curle even arrived at Brunton Park.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
I think most of the story is true and its probably the main reason i think Curle won't ever get success, although if i was fair to him there are other ar*ehole managers about.

But Curle came in and clearly had a group of players he wanted rid of regardless of how they trained, how they played, how fit they were, how unfit they were, whether they were in form or not.

he's spent 8 months treating that crop of players like utter sh*t in order they'd be desperate to go and frankly willing to take pay cuts to leave Carlisle because it is such a sh*t club and horrid manager to play for......he just simply wanted some off the wagebill and it didn't matter whatever they did on or off pitch, he was getting rid of them when he could.

But at same time Paynter can only blame himself that no pressure was whacked on Curle, I remember seeing it before from Roddy Collins who tried that sh*te in his first season, but the 2 players he was forcing out, Stevens and Maddison when getting their rare chance delivered and therefore stuck a big old 2 fingers up at Collins as he had to use them as both performed superbly and it meant fans turned on Collins for this action than vice-versa.

most of the group of players Curle has been forcing out have delivered absolute nothing apart from injuries, uninterested performances and lazy play............the fans will back Curles action with that.

But like anything next seasons results will determine how Carlisle fans back these stories........if Carlisle start poor and Paynter starts well, fans will very quickly use this as ammunition to try and get Curle sacked as he'll be labelled a bully an idiot and a fraud. If though Carlisle start well the fans will back Curle and say his tactics were spot on and 100% the right thing to turn the club about.........fans don't really care if their manager treats their squad well or like sh*t as long as it wins.

I thank you all for the opinions/viewpoints.

As most of you have said, time will tell.

After all, Billy is not Rakish Bingham.

At the end of the day you only signed him because the FA don't allow you to just send Rakish out on his own. His only job is not to get in Rakish's way.
