There were a fair few of these over the weekend, with various teams sealing and celebrating promotion, survival etc.

Ours has caused quite a bit of arguing between fans, even 3 days later there are still people seriously unhappy about it happening. What are your thoughts, are pitch invasions just part of the game or should clubs be clamping down and doing more to prevent fans getting on?

Yours storming the pitch at Donny was quality, bit overkill on Saturday I wasn't aware you actually had one.

In your case I don’t see the point. The game was a dead rubber. In our case nobody could muster the enthusiasm to even boo the useless fuckers.

Yeah the one at full time at Donny was class. On Saturday there was one before full time that was moronic then another once the whistle blew that was a bit of an anti-climax after the first one.

I hear Man City did another one against Huddersfield, baffling and pathetic.

They're part of the game but stupid when we've achieved nothing.

Our fans will invade after the first leg even if we lose.

They don’t really bother me but they’re a bit shit, having a load of divs standing on the side of the pitch with 5 minutes to go waiting to run on seems stupid.

Not like years ago when it was genuinely a result of pure emotion and impulse.

Also worth adding that the Blackburn one happened before the end of the game. Couple of planks decided to celebrate their promotion by having a go at our players.

They’re horrific, thankfully they’ve died out at ours after a bunch of bellend chavs abused the Northampton fans on the 25th anniversary of the fire. Only acceptable one I’ve ever seen was when we beat Liverpool and stayed up in the Prem.

Not for me, I just don't see the appeal - plus the fact that idiots seem to multiply in these types of games which increases the risk of violence.

I can count on the fingers of one hand the pitch invasions we've had featuring more than a single individual in the last 25 years.

v Halifax to stay in the Football League (92/93)
v Sheffield Weds in the FA Cup when they were in the Prem (99/00)
v Rochdale in the play-offs to get to Wembley (08/09)
When we won League Two under Mad Dog (12/13)

There may have been others but I don't recall any other examples. I will admit to being involved in the first two (age 10 and 17) but the other two I was a little wiser.

Depends on the situation whether they can be considered worthy or acceptable. But I feel like they’re a traditional part of English football. That Blackburn one before full time against Oxford was a disgrace though, well done to those home fans who gave one of them a good dose of rough justice.

If you score a last minute goal or win a penalty shootout to get to Wembley, get promotion, achieve something in adversity then I can understand it.

Any other reason, I just don’t get it.

Don’t blame our fans in the slightest for invading the pitch at full-time on Sunday to celebrate with the players. Dead and buried all season up until the 88th minute of the last match.
Unbelievable.
Not seen emotion like it for years. Could be the result that keeps the club alive.

Don't think I've ever seen a pitch invasion after a first leg playoff game before so I doubt that will happen.

We had 3 pitch invasions in a single game in 6-4 against Rovrum a few years ago.

We didn't have one this season though, even with winning the league.

Millwall fans did last season after drawing 0-0 with us in the first leg.

I remember Huddersfield and Rotherham fans running on after their games against us a few years back, still to this day I don't know why they did.

They were just high spirited lads showing goodwill towards our players and fans as they usually do. Even the coppers could see that and consequently did nothing. I think they were just celebrating the fact that we both have swear words in our names - Scunthorpe and Fucking Millwall.

What an amazing game and atmosphere that was. Only time I've walked out of a stadium after a defeat feeling a bit buzzed because the performance we put in, was strange feeling.
